Even though this is a fairly old thread it shouldn't die .... now more than ever. So those waypoint mods with a god complex (actually, I think it is quite the opposite - they really must have serious self-esteem issues that just manifest in what looks like this god complex) are indeed hypocrites and abuse their power. A while back I noticed one of the moderators posting a one-word post which is considered spam and against the rules they are so eager to enforce all other times. Now you guessed it non of the other monitors feels like doing anything about their fellow monitor violating the forum rules. So I post about it and again, you guessed it, I am the one slapped with a ban for posting about moderator decisions. Then my husband posts on his account that someone please explain whether or not a one-word post is spam and while someone agrees that it is my husband and me are both accused of using a fake account to get around my forum ban. This clearly shows how they are abusing their power and how they accuse people of whatever they feel like without any shred of evidence, without knowing the facts and without any kind of due process. So I sent a message to WP Ban Appeals - and never got a response from there. Independent, freelance monitors are never good for the community. Power corrupts and once someone has power they love to exercise it and to hold on to it. There is also the question of proper vetting. I doubt that 343i ever put any real thoughts on that one and so it is very likely that those forum mods are a bunch of convicted criminals. This isn't as far fetched as you may think - a popular dating site started to roll back their community monitor program after it turned out that they had a convicted murderer who got pardoned by the governor on the monitor team.
