Parthian shot vs spare change post hotfix 2.5.0.2
I was wondering if anyone a taken a deep look into either of these pulse rifles viability. How do they stack up against each other.

Edited by kindaSketch: 3/3/2017 7:58:47 PMIt's hard to say roll for roll. I have a counter balance,perfect balance and glass half spare change. I also have a vendor parthion shot. My spare change is better. But they aren't the same roll. But I can absolutely wreck with either if them.

12 RepliesPeople say use the spare change. Its like using longbow to a ldr. THERE is no reason to use them. They are inferior. Spare has horrible recoil direction and meh stability. Use Parthian, kinda easy to get a good roll. Counter or head seeker with perfect balence or braced frame. 21 rounds is pretty decent still.

Since the update I've used Parthian Shot more than any other Primary. Getting a two shot kill feels beautiful. Rodeo/Take A Knee Counterbalance Hand Laid Stock On Titan

I kinda like my spare change with truesight, headseeker, braced and GhalfFull. It's on my warlock. But only on long range maps. Haven't got an PS.

I can't talk about Spare Change because I've never used it, but I used Parthian Shot when I first started playing. Before the patch it was amazing, but I stopped using it in favor of scout rifles and just generally switching it up very often. I played a few games the other day with Parthian Shot on my recently created Titan and it performs pretty much the same as before the patch as far as I am concerned.

Parthian shot is excellent, and has sweet vertical recoil, so braced frame or smallbore makes it a beast.... Spare change has a terrible recoil pattern, that is pure diagonal horrendousness lol Spare change needs hand laid stock or braced frame and counterbalance,and even then is a second choice to the parthian shot....

24 RepliesMy Spare Change has counterbalance and hand laid stock. It's very good, but I've yet to compare it to Parthian Shot. I'm waiting for a better roll than what the vendor sells. I can say that without CB and HLS or Braced frame, Spare Change is a great source of 3 legendary marks... It really needs those stability perks.

I started with Parthian, final duty, hopscotch, and now the spare change... Like others have said, you NEED stability. i have life support, and the grenade regen... not a god roll indeed, but have stability. I love it. It is way better for mid to somewhat close quarters. It is decent at a distance. But something is clicking with me with her and I recommend grinding for one. I could only imagine what a god roll sparechange would actually do in the crucible.

Spare change needs really high stability to be decent otherwise parthian shot is overall better in my opinion just because you don't need counterbalance for it to be usable. The vendor roll is actually pretty good and you'll get several 2 bursts a game with it

I hate them. Well played if you can use them well on smaller maps but for me the fire rate is too slow, miss a burst and I'm dead most of the time.

Can't say anything about Parthian shot because I haven't tried it but I've got a spare change on my hunter with range finder, army of one and hand laid stock. I find it pretty good. Though having another stability perk on it would be great.

I have decent rolls on both not god rolls. My Parthian has outlaw, perfect and counter balance. My spare change has counter balance, hand laid stock and last resort. I find myself using the Parthian more but on longer range maps (think bannerfall, pantheon or memento) I find that the spare change absolutely wrecks from distance. I think both are a good option but the Parthian shot is easier imo to get a good decent roll that's useable versus having to farm a counter balance spare change (the recoil pattern is complete trash without it)

My spare change is a laser beam with headseeker and radar always up. I rarely get beaten out by PS unless they flank me or I have potato aim.

I believe the Parthian Shot is better due to higher Stability and a better Recoil direction stat. I've heard that just getting Hand-laid Stock is enough and Counterbalance isn't needed for the Parthian Shot. You really need Hand-laid Stock and Counterbalance for the Spare Change.

5 RepliesParthian seems better to me for the stability and recoil pattern, Spare needs almost exclusively stability perks to be viable. But it really is a matter of how they feel to you personally, I hate the Spare but others say it's a great Pulse.
