Teacher/School Logic Thread

Post em As OP, I'll go first. Some students are causing trouble so the teacher punishes the entire class as a way to get those students singled out but then condemns fighting and singling out students. Teachers that do that piss me off. Just call the kids out when you know they are being dicks. Don't try to get everyone to group up on them because no one cares enough to and no one wants to get into trouble. Most of the things that teachers threaten to do because of some kids talking is really petty.

  • Stupid things students think: "I should be able to use my phone" "I'm never going to use this" "My teacher is such an asshole. Just because I don't try on anything doesn't mean I should fail!" "Asking my teacher for help will never solve the problem" "There isn't anywhere else I can get help, so I might as well just not make the effort" "My teacher just wants to see me fail, I better disrespect them so they pass me"

          • This is the easiest time in your life. Take it easy, and don't take it so serious. Follow the rules, learn what you can, and dismiss the rest. I read through quite a few of the comments; you kids need to chill. I wish my job was as easy as going to school. Then again, if I hadn't decided to give a shit in school, then I might have a really easy job flipping burgers or something.

            • I used to go to a Christian high school (trust me, it wasn't my choice or I would've gone to a public high school) but since it was a Christian school, they didn't allow any form of swearing. Now being new to the school, I would swear here and there and get reprimanded for it. But after a few months of being there, I would start getting detention for swearing. During lunch period after about 2 weeks of not getting detention, some ginger bitch (at the time I didn't know how much of an ass she was) sat down and pulled out this drawing and showed it to a few of her friends. Now being into art a little bit, I asked to see it. Acknowledging that it was a really great drawing I said "wow! That's really bad ass!" She then proceeds to get up and leave the cafeteria. About 5 minutes later, I get called into the principles office. I am then asked if I swore and I said yes and explained how I called this really good drawing "bad ass" and was then given detention.
Side note: me and the other guys in my class unanimously agreed the staff favored the girls over the boys, yet they wouldn't admit, though it was obvious.
Fast forward about 3 weeks, and the same girl and my friend (who was a guy) were in an argument and I stood there listening until I heard her say "while maybe I'll just bring in a screw driver and stab you in the leg with it." At that point my mind was already set on revenge. I report the incident, no one does anything. The next day, she actually brings in a screw driver and threatens to stab him again. Me and my buddy go to the principle and they ask if she has a screw driver. She admits to it but denies threatening to stab my friend even though she had a screw driver in her bag. Even when me and my buddy reported it and got about 5 of our other friends to report her threatening to stab my friend with a screw driver, the school did nothing.

                  • Back in highschool, there were two extension classes, four general and two sped for each core subject. The annoyying teachers are the ones who teach the class nothing at all and come tests, are over-generous with marking. First of all, this cheats the other classes who work for their marks and rankings. It also cheats the students in that class because they are not learning anything and will likely get moved up a class or continue in their class level for the next year despite not adequately fitting into that level and leaving them unprepared for the year ahead, where the assumed knowledge is built upon.

Some rules from my school were stupid. They seemed to hate dyed hair, makeup and all that and at one point even tried to ban stripey socks. *Edit: They also hate certain haircuts and at one point someone had really short hair so got detention. They were also saying all students must be clean shaven and after we left, they brought in a new rule where they make all students give their phone in at the start of the day and only get it back at the end. If they get caught with it (even at breaks!), they apparently get it taken away and then their parents have to collect it for them. Oh, and the system the school used to keep track of attendance, detentions etc. The way it was used was just.. ugh. No. People would get 30min+ detentions for being 2 minutes late, and negative points for not getting their homework diary signed (this was a massive waste of time anyway).

                    • Teachers paying very little attention. In middle school, I managed to snip a lock of not one, but two different girl's hair in one class, and would've gotten away with it too if it weren't for the second's little brother. Teacher was totally oblivious until he told her. My parents got called (I think it's been awhile) and their reaction was just "how did he get away with two?". They were both my friends though so we all laughed it off before the teacher even found out.

                    • Teacher wears pretty blouse with a large enough gap between buttons so you can see some tantalising cleavage. Leans over her desk when talking to the class. Gets pissed off if she catches you oogling, or god forbid, trying to touch them. WTF?!

                      • Now, back when I was in high school, I'd sleep in the afternoons and go to work for an Owner-Operator doing grunt work and shit like that, changing tires, patching tires, shoveling coal and clay out of trailers, changing shocks and brakes, etc. etc, real easy shit. As it was, I didn't do homework, and I'd usually just return it to the teachers desk unmarked, with the occasional complaint or write-up for my refusal to do it. The Coach in my 1st Block Res. Wiring class though, he'd let me catch a little extra sleep in his class provided I did my in-class work, and he'd cover for me if the Vice Principal or a Counselor walked in because he knew the people I worked for. But, the point of this story lies in the bitch of a Substitute that I almost always got stuck with in that class, and how scummy of a person she was. Whenever she was covering for him, I'd carry about on my normal routine, and at first she ignored it, for maybe the first two or three times she covered for him. But, she progressively became more of a scumbag. It started out with slapping a ruler on my desk, or maybe shouting at me from across the room, and eventually got to the point where she'd pull my table out from under me or kick my chair to wake me up. Well, I finally got tired of it, and decided that one day I wouldn't clean myself up before I went in to school. Just imagine being in a set of coveralls and work boots that are so caked and covered in grease, coal, clay, diesel fuel and gasoline that you can't even tell what color they used to be, and smelling like you look. I went into class that day just like that, and sat down in a corner of the room to do my work and continue on about my day. I ended up passing out in that corner, and slept through the rest of the class without interruption, and when I woke up the only thing she did was turn her nose up at me and point me to the door.

On a somewhat unrelated note, kids that are male in the UK are treated differently from reception (bit like preschool) all the way through high school compared to females. I don't often get to highlight this point but it's disgusting that females are almost always subject to favouritism in the school environment by teachers, whether it be behaviour based or grade based. The sexist treatment is clearly an advantage. I hear it's like this in some other countries too.

Student logic: dozens of students are entering and leaving from this tiny door because their asses need to be in class in less than a minute. Let's have the six of us group up and chat right in front of that door!

Parent: I don't understand this stuff. I can't help them. Teacher: You don't need to help them, just make sure they've finished; that they've written something. (a few weeks later) Teacher: Your child is still not turning in assignments. Parent: I think they're old enough to be responsible for their own work (← the kid was seven). I trust them to make their own decisions and take responsibility for it. (a few weeks later) Teacher: Your child is failing. Parent: WHY WASN'T I INFORMED?! Have them stay after class and I'll help them with the homework. Parent: OK. (the next day) (five minutes after class) Parent: I'm here to pick up my kid. Teacher: I thought they were going to stay after school today. Parent: Oh, right... but we have plans. Teacher: Can they stay tomorrow? Parent: To busy. Can't pick them up. Teacher: Next week then? Parent: Too busy. Too busy every day. Teacher: Well that homework needs to be finished. Parent: That's your job.
