Democrats are -blam!-ing ingenious. They have actually coerced minorities to want segregation so they don't have to look like the bad guys anymore.
Greatest feat in the modern world for sure. Their plan is finally coming to fruition. Give it another 50 years and they may have brainwashed them enough to want slavery again.

We have slavery now. We simply call them minimum wage workers. The really crazy part is you don't even have to feed or house these slaves. You just pay them pennies and they show up to do jobs no one else wants to

Close, they're illegal/migrant workers. Democrats get them in, keep them from being deported, then profit as they're worked like slaves with some occasional coercion to stay in line for fear of deportation. Then they have the audacity to claim illegal immigrants benefit the economy by providing cheap labor.

Who else wants to do the job that they do? How much more would we have to pay someone else? I know some of the farms around here have a very heavy percentage of Pablo. They seem to appear in the summer and disappear shortly thereafter. I have no idea if they are legal or not but it's a job I sure wouldn't want to do for what they get paid

you wanna whine about slavery? how about you take a look at the middle east? poor indentured servants are told marvelous lies to travel for work and get a great wage only to be forced to live in a tiny place with dozens of people and one bed, for a fraction of what they were told they'd make, and their passport confiscated until they pay back their debt, which increases if they leave to visit their family. all the really rich countries over there are doing this to build things like dubai and nobody says a thing about it.

I really hope this is b8. Min wage workers make up a tiny group of the overall workforce and are usually, at least 90%, part time. If you're on full time and make min wage, easy solution. Find another job.

They are actually a fairly substantial part of the workforce . modern day slavery. I don't think very many of you can really relate to low class people. People who actually come from really messed up families and struggle to figure out how to live life. That's a very large part of our society and it's core to this whole discussion you see in this thread

Cool. I speak from experience. I worked a min wage job for a while. Know what I did? Instead of being stupid and saying a deserved $15/hour for flipping burgers I found a job that would actually pay me $15/hour for a fair days work. It's not rocket science, and is by no means hard.

Yeah I did that too but what's your family like? I actually have one. I learned along the way that's what you did. Think about people who are born to a crackhead mom who keeps telling them a bunch of screwed up ideas. It takes a long time to unwind all of that when they think exactly what they are conditioned to and those things are just completely backwards

This country doesn't do anything for lazy entitled people. That's the whole problem no one is there to give them guidance on how to take care of themselves. How to get a job. How to develop job skills. All of that stuff they just wonder around aimlessly. Like I was saying below even the handouts are screwed up. If someone is on Welfare they actually get more money for not going to school. That is so screwed up. Job training free education all of that stuff benefits Society. Each one of those people who actually becomes productive saves us a hell of a lot more money than some job training or school would cost in the long run

Although, I'd agree, there should be some kind of general job training/preparing you for interviews type of thing. Maybe in the junior and senior years or something. As far as more welfare for not going to school...That was kind of my point. Pandering to lazy, entitled people. All that being said, those reasons don't justify raising min wage. It is very easy, no, ridiculously easy to find a job that pays more than min wage. Manufacturing jobs are everywhere and a lot pay significantly better than min wage.

There are very few manufacturing jobs in my area . it's all high-tech and professional. The cost of living is also quite High . just an average house 400,000. High School is basically worthless it's just an entrance into where life begins . like you definitely need to finish it but people need to learn a trade or get a degree. When you have guys that come from generations of dysfunction all of that is completely foreign to them. they are the people that we spend so much money on with welfare and jail and the entire shopping list. That's why I say it's all of our problems

The problem is, you can't help someone that doesn't want to be helped. Most people like that don't think they need help, so they won't accept help.

Maybe but even if you only help 10% that's millions and millions of dollars we save in jail and entitlement costs and it's very socially positive because that 10% if they have kids will not produce kids as bad as they started most likely. There are always going to be people who don't care and don't want help and are just generally bad people. There are also a lot of kids you just don't really know what to do and follow the influence close to them. What if that influence was positive . changes the whole dynamic

Buy any minimum wage workers at the local job I mean slave market ? The part that always gets me is I will see some trash car in a parking lot with all of these Republican don't tread on me stickers on it. Across the way there is usually a brand new Lexus or some such car with a tuck frump or some such sticker. The irony is the educated who already have a lot don't mind giving to those who don't but those who have very little want to make sure they get even less.
