Aren't modern liberals tolerant and diverse, why would some of them want the return of racial segregation? 🤔 that seems extremely racist 🤔🤔

Because in many cases they're still quite racist. It's just a paternalistic racism rather than discriminatory racism. They still view minorities as lesser beings, but rather than hate them for it, they make themselves feel better/boost their social status by pretending to care and "helping" these groups.
