I've been playing Warframe a lot in the evenings, and Skyrim when there are less people around to play with. Warframe has a lot of the elements of Destiny that we loved or we wanted from Y1/Destiny. Incredible loot, but you have to grind for it. Limited time events for extremely rare loot. Constant vault rotation for Warframes and weapons, so some gear is only available on a limited time basis (although people can get the lesser, non-primed versions and get similar utility), there's raids and what is essentially a three-part nightfall, PVE is separated from PVP. It's really hard to get into because getting into the game after it's been ongoing for a few years can make it difficult to fully comprehend the story, but if your willing to put in the time to do a bit of reading, the story is actually really incredible! And even though there are definitely some top-tier heavy hitting frames and weapons, variety is DEFINITELY the spice of Warframe, since each frame plays its role by doing the same thing other frames in their class do, but in their own way. Ditto for the weapons. And some weapons that you think are weak can REALLY surprise you if you get the right mods and pair it with the right frame.

  • I'm trying to give Warframe another chance, but frankly it seems a little too loosely connected. Very retro, especially with a chat buffer running. It's kind of like a bowl of CAP'N CRUNCH cereal that's sat in milk for 15 minutes. Sure, pretty much everything is there, but now the texture is all wrong. It'll feed you, but is it... good?

  • I actually really enjoy the game. I understand that it is hard to get into because the story is hard to get without doing some additional reading. It also has a very LONG learning curve, so its best to just enjoy the game for what it is, and learn little by little. Its also like Destiny where if you don't have people to play with, it is much harder to get into. I also understand your complaints about it not feeling like a perfectly refined game, but neither was Destiny Y1, and we enjoyed the hell out of that game. The difference is with Warframe, I've been playing for over a year now and haven't paid a dime for the right to do so. And they continue to make improvements. They do a much better job of telling the story of Warframe in later quests like the Glast Gambit and the War Within, or even the Second Dream. I would not recommend taking on any of those quests without a stronger warframe though.

  • 3 months sober myself, i was previously addicted to destiny since it launched, it was part of my weekly routine. i would spend my days completing each raid, nightfall and every bounty (still stayed away from crucible up untill 6 months ago), i had my days planned out far in advance so i knew what i was doing, then year 3 came around and destroyed that routine making change it didn't need forcing things to take longer to complete making even more things irrelevant like they said they would never do (they did the same when the changed to the light system, all that work down the drain). destiny has tried to become an Esport type game (which everyone knows you can't be due to the fact your limited to your 30 FPS and all Esport games require something like a 60 FPS or close). you went fron the 3 second TTK in the early days (for some weapons) to the now 1 second avarage TTK, you have nerfed PvE into the ground because you wan't to keep PvP ballanced (which is impossible to do as no one will ever have the same opinion on every weapon) there are those who like close quaters combat while there are some people are shotgunners while others simply like to snipe, others like to wittle away heath and use coverfire to keep evryone pinned down to help the team (not everyone cares about their K/D ratio). now i have moved in to casually playing things like call of duty infinite warfare, for the campaingn mode and mostly for the zombies mode and i will play no more than a few hours a week of that (i have hardly touched my xbox one in the last 3 months now ehich is unusual for me and my daily habit of 15+ hour game sessions, even my 3ds has seen more actin in the last 3 months than my xbox one). farewell destiny you were once great but now you are not. zxBEASTKILLERxz.

  •
destiny has tried to become an Esport type game (which everyone knows you can't be due to the fact your limited to your 30 FPS and all Esport games require something like a 60 FPS or close).
This is the issue I think. Many within the company and some outside of the company want this game to be an MLG-Style E-Sport, but in order for it to become that, it has to be much better balanced than it is, and since we know PVE and PVP get hit with the same patch, that means PVE players will constantly lose out. Destiny simply can't have PVE connected to PVP balance AND be enjoyable for both modes AND have that kind of balance. It simply doesn't work because balance just isn't fun in PVE (and we've seen that for what is now the majority of Destiny 1's lifespan). Honestly, I think there are just way too many problems with this game philosophically, both in PVE and PVP. And Bungie has a really poor record of changing their philosophy, admitting their mistakes, or reversing course. They tend to double down on mistakes. And this is why Destiny 2 will not be the major smash-hit people are hoping or believing it will be.

  • Ok I've seem you make this post multiple times. But you and I both know that PvE has been negatively affected by far more than PvP balance. It is part of it but the balance for casual players destroyed PvE far more than PvP balance.

  • Its been warframe for me. I just traded fir a rare mod thats going to complete my 6 forma ember prime build. This after taking a couple weeks to forma and relevel my ember 6x over. And i got a sick riven which turns an underutilized auto-shitgun into an acid-spewing, explosion causing AA12 that can take down level 160+ enemies with ease. And in the world of skyrim im still trying to find my way around the soul cairn. Glad to see im not the only destiny deserter left on these forums though!

  • Let me guess... the KOHM? I run Frost prime and I have the ultimate defense build. Vaykor Hek/KOHM, twin kohmak and Galatine prime are a great selection and allows me to wipe the floor in an instant.

  • Actually, Sobek. I got a god-roll riven for it (Multishot + Impact Damage + Reload speed) and I paired it with Acid Shells from Kayla DeThane and I put in Shattering Justice from Steel Meridian to help get the status chance up to 93% ish with two dual stat mods. Threw in blaze for some extra damage. I didn't know what it was capable of doing, but got stuck in an excavation with some good random players. We stayed 36 excavators with little trouble, and we were facing around level 160-170 enemies, and my Sobek would take the first one down in around 3-5 shots. Then the acid shell explosion would trigger, and reduce everything's armor, and the remaining mobs went down much easier.

Sweet, I am a vaykor hek guy. Point blank shots erase level 100's in a single shot, I run viscous spread so it lacks "range". KOHM is what I take into the void, Corrosive and heat on both. Hmmm, I need to start hunting for those riven mods for those weapons. I can't procrastinate that! Edit: Oh I forgot, best of travels in the soul carin, took me a bit to find EVERYTHING. I am never going back there, that's for sure.

  • I actually like my Drakgoon for crowd control, but it starts to lack punch after around level 70-80 enemies if you aren't running corrosive projection on 3 or 4 people. I've got a riven for it that I just acquired that I need to reroll. If I can get Multishot+ Elemental Damage + Status Chance/Reload I can put in some dual stat mods and lose some top end damage for some better scaling status proc damage like viral damage. Its fun though to be able to quite literally clear a room by just spamming the gun in any direction, knowing my ball bearings are going to bounce around and decimate everything. I have a 5 forma Vaykor Hek which I pretty much use just for bosses. My Drakgoon is pretty much my favorite all-around weapon though. What you can't decimate by spamming it, you can use charged shot with innate punch through to do the job. And I can hit things you would use a sniper for with a charged shot too and still do over 10-15k damage with it. Its only lacking due to lack of crit chance and status chance (both are at 7.5%) but with enough dual stat mods and the right riven mod, you can get status chance up near 60-70% which is decent.

  • Oohh I forgot about drakgoon, excellent choice. Yea riven mods are going to be a game changer for my "perfect" KOHM. Yea, something like critical damage is what I shoild look for. *sigh* gotta sell more prime parts for platinum. Then again, the banshee prime pack will be out soon... hmmm THAT IS WHY I LOVE WARFRAME, THERE ARE SO MANY CHOICES! The pay-to-win may get in the way. but if you have a clan, nothing is impossible.
The pay-to-win may get in the way. but if you have a clan, nothing is impossible
My clan is only 6 members and we have all our dojo research done except for Hema, and we're only 500 mutagen's short on completing that. Most of us haven't paid a dime to play the game, we all have all of the following primes: Frost, Ember, Nova, Nekros, Loki, Nyx, Volt, and Valkyr. I also have a Mag, which is INCREDIBLY powerful against big targets, especially if you use a drakgoon or a vaykor hek on the target. Oh, and I have an Ash prime and Saryn Prime sitting in my foundry, but right now my focus is on forma-ing my Valkyr and maxing mods. I don't see many people using the Drakgoon very often, and the riven for it was pretty cheap. I think it's a darkhorse weapon that people just don't realize how fun or powerful it can actually be, and that is BEFORE you put a riven in it.
