Let's talk about Truth in PvE
Now, lots of people are upset about the recent changes to Truth, including me. There was no need to change the gun at all.
That being said there's not much we can do about it except complain so let's move on.
I've seen a lot of people saying things like 'now Truth is useless for PvE.' I would strongly advise against using Truth in PvE, it is not a PvE weapon, it is more tailored to PvP, or it was I should say. Gally is a good choice for PvE but when it comes down to what does the most damage and kills the quickest then you should all really be using Sleeper. Sleeper Simulant is one the of highest damage-output weapons in the game, if not the highest. The only weapon I can think of that could possibly do more damage is Dark-Drinker, but given that Dark-Drinker is a melee ranged weapon, it's not ideal against most Ultras as they can 'ground-pound' making close quarters combat more difficult.
People are obviously free to use any weapon they desire, but if you are looking for maximum damage output at a range then Sleeper Simulant wins hands down. Plus if you have the generic carry more heavy ammo perk on your armor then it gives you 12 shots with Sleeper instead of 9, which is what really makes this a go to weapon. Even with just 9 shot, your still going to be dealing a ton more damage that gally. Even if you miss every crit shot, it still does more damage.
Just something to think about, sadly this isn't a solution to Truth in PvP, but wanted to address those who use it in PvE and those who haven't tried out Sleeper cause they were using Gally.

1 ReplyCouldn't have said it better. Seriously, who the fück was using Truth in PVE?... Sleeper is by far the best exotic heavy weapon for pvp besides exotic sword. I run Raze Lighter so I can go ape on majors til I get to ultra than switch over to sleeper. Cuts like butta

I've used truth in Pve for a long time. Admittedly I don't play Pve as much anymore but yesterday I just stored it away in my vault. What was the point in ruining a weapon that's been unchanged since year 1.

I loled at truth in pve. Really nobody actually uses that. If it's void burn people turn to telesto, and a legendary rocket launcher, or equip a sword, or one of the many better heavy weapons that don't take an exotic slot. It's really not effecting much besides less free kills in pvp, and more reloading in pve.

2 RepliesTruth was good for the Burn, but that was the only time I used it in PvE. It's easily replaced, by a legendary now, there is really nothing Exotic about it anymore , except it's looks, we all know the aggressive tracking is not all that aggressive. It's just sad.

Bungie tries to balance things so they can be used effectively in PvE and PvP. At least thats what they tell us. So if that is the case then WTF. Cause Truth is garbage now. Even in PvP. I have an old IB RL with tracking and Tripod. Gives me 3 rockets.. Would take that over Truth now anyday.

1 ReplyWhile the sleeper is a good alternative, it doesnt replace the truth in pve. I know most like to use certain and the same setups/weapons in pve, but i like to use a lot of setups/weapons, including the truth. It's what has helped keep the game fun/fresh for me. With the nerf to the truth, they kinda have taken away an option for me. An option that shouldnt have been taken away cause of pvp, specifically trials. The pve portion of the game should not be balanced around trials nor pvp in general. That's my issue with this and a lot of the previous balance patches. I get and understand pvp helps keep the life of games going, so balancing /tinkering with that from time to time is necessary; but that doesnt mean -blam!- over the pve part of the game while doing so. Which bungie continues to do, and they dont seem to care. The fact they are talking about nerfing skorri, a mainly pve artifact, cause of people complaining about it in trials says it all.

6 RepliesTruth has always been a PvP weapon since Gally does the same damage(post-nerf) as Truth does when void burn is active,pre-nerf gally always did more even with void burn. Oh and the sleeper is not a very good weapon in PvE,you must hit crit shots or your primary does more DPS and some bosses just don't stand still very long.

The reason people want rockets more than sleeper is for instant crowd control..sure sleeper is great for boss dps but when u get in a pinch and there's a mob that wont let up and ur on ur last leg at the moment than gjally or truth (if void burn) saves the day.

People should keep complaining about it, because exotic weapons deserve better treatment than unfair nerfs that don't make any sense and make them worse than legendaries.

Truth nerf isn't that bad. Besides, you can't tell me that thing ISN'T a f[i]u[/i]ckin javelin, and that thing holds 1 rocket.

I honestly have no problem with the Truth nerf. It was irrelevant in PvE so PvP is really the only place it got a change. Only having 1 shot before a reload is honestly not a big problem, you'll still kill whoever your aiming at you just need to play more carefully

The only other PvP rocket I've ever seen since Rise of Iron is Titanium Orchid and Gjallarhorn. They will not hit Gjallarhorn since it's an iconic weapon of Destiny but to promote other rockets and exotic heavies for PvP, they'll nerf it. Honestly, it got what it deserves. You shot that thing and bam, it would [i]nearly[/i]always get you a kill. As for PvE, I haven't seen a guy using Truth ever since year 1 on Xbox 360. Ehh I don't even see the need of it even in void burn weeks since we have the Nova Mortis. The only rocket that would see viable, that is not Gjallarhorn in PvE, is any with spray and pray or tripod. That way, you can equip something like Outbreak Prime per say or even a nice exotic sniper for PvE like Black Spindle. This is my thought on Truth.

Every weapon should be capable in both pvp and pve. Otherwise they should just start making certain weapons pvp only, and certain weapons pve only. Don't have the two game modes intertwined if they are just going to make certain weapons only viable in pvp. It's a stupid concept from start to finish blanketing the balance of both modes together.

I've only seen people use truth in pve when it was year 1 void burn. After dark drinker and telesto I never saw it again. Nova mortis gave even more reasons not to use it

I use it with void burn. It was a lot of fun.

I don't see anyone use truth for pve. Maybe for void burn, but there are other weapons to use. People are only upset about truth because they can't pull heavy and get 3 instant easy kills in pvp. It's still the same and only rocket launcher to have grenades & horshoes + tracking.
