My Xbox One controller makes using menus like using a slot machine.
The left analog stick constantly drifts upward. Makes playing games..... difficult.
Besides buying a new hopefully more durable version of the Xbox one controller what can I do?

I had this problem not that long ago. It sucks but you already knew that. The quality of controllers seems to get worse as years go by. When I got a new controller it felt lighter and not as well supported as my older one. If you know how to work on electronics then try and fix it manually, if not, then you need to get another. I go through 1 controller a year and I try to push for longer but like I said, they're not well supported. I try to avoid clicking them down and turning at the same time or rapid slam movement. GoW Wall-bouncing had my buds turn to the left.

Same thing happened to me with my ps4 controller. Wasn't even 6 months old. Dam things aren't cheap.

Take it apart and clean it out. Probably just a bit of grime build up. Fixed mine like that a few times

Open it up and switch the sticks around. If that doesn't work then you're fucked.
Besides buying a new hopefully more durable version of the Xbox one controller what can I do?
Get your next one from Best Buy with the 2 year warranty. GameStop also offers a warranty in their refurbished ones, but not the new ones. For those out there with bumper issues you can get replacement kits online if you can't drop money on a new controller. As far as I've experienced, the two biggest issues with the Elite are stick drift (usually left analog) and broken bumpers.

So does my dualshock 4. But I threw mine against a wall... Damn bloodborne!

I get this all the time. Try pulling the stick out of the controller straight up. Don't worry you won't break it, it's probably got stuck down (R3/L3 button). You should feel it give a little as it returns to its original position. I've had this problem eventually with every stick controller since the introduced dual shock analogue on the PS1. Should be ok for a few weeks, but you'll have to do it more frequently the longer you leave getting a new one.

recently got a one S and the controller had an A button that didn't register if you didn't push it down enough even if the buttons made its clicking noise. ive adapted now and don't notice it as often, but still. bought a second controller from bestbuy to play split screen. took it out of the box to find out that the bumpers made a really loud clicking noise and took a lot of effort to push down, nothing like the other controller that came with the xbone. hoping to return it soon and get a new one

I honestly don't understand how people break controllers. I've never had to buy a replacement controller in my life.

I'm still pissed off that the Lunar white controller I bought in may randomly had LB just come off in December. $60 for a controller that hasn't even lasted, while the stock controller that came with my Xbone has lasted for almost 2 years.

You gotta buy a new one

Might sound weird, but put your mouth around the thumbstick and blow it. Helped me once, and I've heard from others it's a common fix.

Same thing happened to me, shortly after my D-pad broke as well. Am getting a new one tonight

Not eat Doritos while playing.
