Damian quickly sidestepped around the Hunter's attack, putting him at the outer edge of the roof.[/i] [i]Zale turned around and faced him again.[/i] [b]Damian[/b]- You're fast. [i]Zale laughed playfully.[/i] [b]Zale[/b]- Likewise. [i]The Hunter charged in for another attack, this time jumping above the man and striking downward. Damian sprinted forward and slid right under the swipe of his blade. Once again, the two had switched sides. Damian stood at the edge, and Zale now had his back to the rooftop door. Hayden crashed through the door and stopped next to the Hunter. The Titan looked back and forth between Zale and their target. The two of them looked at each other.[/i] [b]Hayden[/b]- You still haven't caught him yet?! [b]Zale[/b]- I'm working on it! [b]Hayden[/b]- Well work harder! [b]Zale[/b]- WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?! [b]Hayden[/b]- It means don't get here late so we don't have to wait for you– [b]Zale[/b]- You left without me! [b]Hayden[/b]- Because you were taking forever! [b]Zale[/b]- I HAD TO GO TO THE BATHROOM! [i]Damian slowly walked away as the two guardians bickered.[/i] [b]Damian[/b]- Amateurs. [b]Zale[/b]- I've been waiting up here for 30 minutes to catch the guy, and here you are telling me– [b]Hayden[/b]- I had to deal with the locals down on the streets for a half an hour– [b]Zale[/b]- Oh, gimme a break it's not like– [b]Hayden[/b]- Wait a minute. [b]Zale[/b]- No YOU wait a minute– [b]Hayden[/b]- STOP. I'm serious.... [i]Hayden looked around. Damian was nowhere in sight.[/i] [b]Hayden[/b]- ....Where'd he go? [b]Zale[/b]- Where'd who go? [b]Hayden[/b]- The target, knucklehead! [i]Zale looked around. In the distance, he saw the man jumping from rooftop to rooftop.[/i] [b]Zale[/b]- .......Fuuuuuuuck. [i]Hayden ran after him.[/i] [b]Hayden[/b]- COME ON! [i]Zale followed the Titan.[/i] [b][i]--------------------[/i][/b] [i]Liz quietly waited in her ship, looking out a window. Outside was the dark alley she landed in. Above the ship's controls, a panel of screens was laid out before her. Each of them showed the feed to different street cameras and security networks. All of a sudden, Hayden's voice patched in through the comms.[/i] [b]Hayden[/b]- Liz, we caught up to the target, but he made a break for it. We're in pursuit.... Again. [b]Liz[/b]- What? You guys were on the roof though! [b]Hayden[/b]- Yeah, about that.... [i]Liz looked down at one of the camera feeds. On the screen, she saw Zale blinking across the rooftops behind their target. Hayden was Shoulder Charging forward along him.[/i] [b]Liz[/b]- You've got to be kidding me. [b]Hayden[/b]- Yeah, twinkle-toes got distracted and he got away. [i]Zale yelled into the comms.[/i] [b]Zale[/b]- NOT MY FAULT. [i]Liz shook her head as she inspected an overview map of their location. In the upper region of buildings, she saw the series of rooftops come to a halt, right next to a large street-way.[/i] [b]Liz[/b]- Listen, the rooftops end straight ahead ahead of you. Make sure you corner him; I'm gonna cut him off. [b]Zale[/b]- Cut him off?! With what?! [i]Liz grabbed at the steering handle in front of her seat and thrust it forward. The walls around her shook as the ship's jets ignited. Within seconds, the ship rose from the street. Light spilled in through the window as it pulled up and out of the alleyway.[/i] [b]Liz[/b]- Cavalry. [i]The Warlock thrust the handle forward one more time, and the ship darted through the city.[/i] [b][i]-----------------------[/i][/b] [b]Zale[/b]- Come on, we're gaining on him! [i]Zale and Hayden braced themselves as they landed on the next rooftop. At the edge, the building sloped downward into the next skyscraper. Damian was running in the distance. Hayden looked at the slope, and then back at the Hunter.[/i] [b]Hayden[/b]- How the hell did he make it acro– [i]Zale jumped onto the slope and began sliding downward.[/i] [b]Zale[/b]- WAHOO! [i]Hayden shook his head.[/i] [b]Hayden[/b]- This is gonna hurt. [i]The Titan jumped down after him.[/i] [i]The two flew down the sloped building, picked up speed with every passing second. At the end of the slope, Zale blinked across the gap and onto the roof of the next building. Hayden Shoulder Charged across and landed beside him. Up ahead, Damian slid to a stop where the series of rooftops ended, looking down at the wide street below. Cars buzzed by left and right.[/i] [b]Damian[/b]- Damnit.... [i]Hayden and Zale stopped right behind him.[/i] [b]Hayden[/b]- Dead end, pal. There's no where left to run. [i]The building started shaking. The sound of a jet roared through the air as a ship rose up from the street right in front them. A bright spotlight on its hull beamed down on their target. Liz's voice rang out from the ship like a megaphone.[/i] [b]Liz[/b]- On behalf of the Tower Security: Stand. Down. [i]Damian took a step back from the ship. Hayden and Zale waved at Liz.[/i] [b]Hayden[/b]- Haha! [b]Zale[/b]- Hell yeah! [i]Damian closed his eyes and slowly exhaled. He thought back to what Werein said earlier.[/i] [spoiler][b]Werein[/b]- Damian. [b]Damian[/b]- .....Yes, Werein? [b]Werein[/b]- .....Stay safe.[/spoiler] [i]Holding the device close to his chest, the man whispered to himself.[/i] [b]Damian[/b]- ....I'm sorry Werein.... You'll have to carry on without me. [i]Damian turned around and laughed.[/i] [b]Damian[/b]- You kids are clever. [i]Beeping sounds rang from the device as he began tinkering with it once again. Hayden looked at Zale. The Hunter shrugged. Damian took a step back. He was now standing at the edge of the rooftop.[/i] [b]Zale[/b]- Hey wait, stop! [i]The man held up the device and pressed one final button on its side. The red light on its surface turned green.[/i] [b]Damian[/b]- Not clever enough. [i]Damian let himself fall backwards off of the rooftop.[/i] [i]Zale and Hayden rushed forward.[/i] [b]Zale[/b]- NO! [i]The two guardians ran to the edge and watched as the man fell further and further below. Just before he hit the ground, an explosion burst from the device in his hand. White, blinding light blazed throughout the street. When the light died back down, a large hole was cut out in the ground where the explosion went off. Almost as if the area had simply disappeared. Cars began honking their horns as they spun away from the blast. The bottom floor of the nearby building gave in and crashed down onto the street. Screams of pedestrians rang out from below. The three guardians watched the chaos before them. Emergency teams rushed through the smoke-plagued area and began crowding the street, helping people away from the destruction. Zale was speechless. His eyes widened as he stared at the street. Liz spoke to two of them over the comms.[/i] [b]Liz[/b]- We need to get back to the school.... The headmaster needs to know what happened. [i]For about a minute, neither of them responded. Then Hayden nodded.[/i] [b]Hayden[/b]- Okay.... [i]Zale was silent.[/i] [b]Hayden[/b]- We're on our way.
