Lives of ARC v2 Ch. 2: The Temple of Naedar

"I've located the entrance!" Vladimir yelled to the crowd. "Good! Highlight it for us," Malikeith said. Immediately, a doorway lit up in a brilliant sky blue on everyone's HUDs. "Great!" Rex exclaimed. "Now we can get out of this storm!" Everyone rushed to the door and got in. The wind and sand was still howling outside but the team was free of the gritty torturer of the outside. Jaeger, a tall, big Awoken, looked at Rex and brushed off his shoulder. "You're a bit.. sandy." Rex cocked his head then shook it. Jaeger still chuckled at his cheesy joke. A wierd noise bellowed from the deeper chambers of the temple. It sounded like a voice speaking. An intelligent voice. A writhing voice. A voice of a snake. Malikeith looked down the cooridor that led from the entrance hall. "Did... did anyone else hear that?" He asked. "Hear what?" Byron asked as he dusted off his Universal Remote. Malikeith looked around, realizing that no one else heard the voice. "Um, nothing. Just the wind playing tricks on me, I guess." "It better not be the d*** Hive!..." Buggsy declared. "Dude, Buggs, chill. The Hive haven't even had signs of living in Africa," Rex said calmly. "Look at this," Luther said. "The temple of Naedar, Lord of Serpents." He crossed his arms as he read the writing on the archway. Malikeith stared at the writing. "What is this? I don't recognize the language..." "Ancient Reschee, I believe. It was an old culture back from the early Dark Age. I've always wondered where the tablets came from..." Luther spun around as he took everything in. "Dark Age, huh?" Vladimir spun around the room. "I instantly don't like it in here..." "What's wrong with the Dark Age?" Rex asked as he joined the two men. "Many things, Rex, many things," Malikeith said as he turned to him. "Hence the term 'Dark Age'! Now, can we please go?!" Vladimir panicked. "No!" Malikeith shouted. "King Ta'Chal wanted us to retrieve whatever is hiding here, and that is exactly what we will do." The temple raid team delved into the deep tunnels of the fortress. Everyone was tense-- they all had their weapons ready. Malikeith, and Vladimir as a floating light, led the way. The air felt stale. No one liked it, but no one said a word. They simply searched the chambers. "Malikeith..." Whispered the writhing voice. "Who's there?!" Malikeith shouted as he suddenly stopped. "'Keith?" Rex asked. "Wait here," Malikeith ordered. Vladimir waited with the group and became brighter. The Light Wielder walked around and trained his rifle on the shadows. The five people waiting back looked at each other with confusion. Rex stepped forward. "Malikeith! There's no one there." There was no reply from the darkness. Only the sound of a gun dropping to the ground! Everyone rushed after! "Malikeith! Malikeith!" Vladimir shouted. The group burst into the room behind their leader. He stood there, staring at the room. Everyone caught their breaths. "Bro. Are you trying to give us a scare?" Jaeger asked as he plopped himself on his shoulder. "I found the treasure room..." Malikeith said blandly. Everyone looked up. Vladimir became a bright beacon again, shining light all through the room. "Ho-ly... s***..." Buggsy exclaimed. The treasures of the Prison of Elders were no match for what laid in the chamber. The group walked around, sifting through the gold and jewels. "Vladimir, record this and send it to King Ta'Chal. He needs to see this!" Malikeith cheered. The little ghost flew around the room and recorded the the amounts of riches found. Meanwhile, on the opposite side of the desert, Ta'Chal Ankara and his guards walked through the Dunes ketch. Ariks the Executor, the Dunes Kell, walked with them as they discussed a peace treaty-- the Veniks Pact, named after the Dunes ketch. The two leaders sat at a table and Ariks signaled for refreshments for them. A vandal brought them an Eliksni drink very similar to wine. Ta'Chal looked back to the kell. "As originally agreed on, our people shall share the bounty of our land. As we speak, a team is searching an ancient temple recently uncovered by the wind storms--" Ta'Chal's ghost played a holographic video so both leaders could see. "And apparently they have found something of interest." The two leaders stared in awe as they saw the treasures in the room. Ariks did speak some English. "This treasure, in hidden temple?" Ta'Chal nodded and smiled. "And we can split the riches evenly." "Fallen go there, take portion for us..." Ariks said as she looked up from the video. "Yes. And the people of Tau'la will take our share," Ta'Chal replied. "The treasures of this ancient civilization will be the seal of our pact." Ta'Chal clapped his hands together. Ariks nodded, then waved her hands around signaling for a holo-tablet. Ariks looked back to Ta'Chal as they waited for the tablet. "Cultures at war for ages. Peace finally made." "I only wish it came sooner. Many lives on both sides were lost to petty quarrels." King Ta'Chal took a sip of the drink then set it back down.
