For those of you who don't know what Escape from Tarkov is, it's a survival based milsim game, the first truly hardcore shooter since S.T.A.L.K.E.R. no hud, no regenerating health, one shot, one kill unless a bullet manages not to sever an artery in your leg or you get hit in a lung or kidney and the bullet goes through without creating a dinner plate sized hole for the exit wound. The game is so realistic that you have to factor in range, drop, and wind variance to land a hit save for somewhat medium to point blank range depending on the weapon you carry. You must loot, scavenge, eat, drink, sleep, and kill to survive in a fictional photo realistic Russian environment filled with hostile AI (Scavengers and some PMCs) as well as other players. There is an area of the continent you are on that fictions similarly to the Dark Zone in the Division, EXCEPT it's one giant raid area, this area is known as the red zone and if you die here, YOU-LOSE-EVERYTHING. There is alot of things in the game that give it a realistic fallout feel except no nukes ever went off, it's more like Chernobyl without the radiation. If you see a building, container, or any man sized area you can enter it. Escape from Tarkov is an online MMO so no offline single player and the entire map is PvPvE but you only lose everything in the red zone. Opposing players can loot your corpse but you will still respawn with what you had. Your guns will jam, misfire, fall off aim due to recoil, hang fire, and even backfire if you don't keep it clean and maintained. There is also customization for weapons, from receivers to triggers and stocks (you can for example pull the receiver cover off of an AK and still use just the open chamber but it will get dirty, malfunction, jam, and break easier. You can do things like this to save on weight and inventory space if you so choose). There is a story and narrative but what you do between missions is all up to you. There are shops, side quests, bars, you name it, it's there. You are a mercenary from either USEC or BEAR, two PMC who were once enemies but now you must team up or fight your way out of Tarkov to beat the game. As of right now there is an Alpha and soon a Beta you can sign up for on steam. The developers, Battlestate games, has said the game may come to consoles, but as of right now it's too early to talk much about it. The game is set for full release either by the end of 2016 or early 2017. It will come to PC first and if to console they will do it like ARK (totally ok with that).
I wanted to bring this up because even though I don't own a PC I'm still already a hardcore fan, this is the kind of game I've been waiting for and wanted to get a discussion started about it and maybe see if someone can't bring the "bring EfT to console" hype to the developers if they know how. This game looks perfect for shooter fans. To put it in perspective, Dark Souls hardcore but with no monsters, just people, better graphics and in first person. This is a no bullshit survive or die game and I can't wait to play one way or another.
Have you heard of this game? Are you excited for it? What are your thoughts and opinions? Share in the comments below and let's try to make it known this game needs to come to consoles.
