APACHE N4SIR - Last Man Standing (The Very End Of Halo 2 Online)

APACHE N4SIR has been booted from the game, meaning that Halo 2 on LIVE is now truly dead.... Thought I would start this thread so people know that it's finally all over, and can doff their caps to the old girl / LIVE / The Few / Apache.... To all of the final few, well done guys 'n' gals!! As mentioned elsewhere on the forum, I had my doubts about what you were doing keeping it alive, but have realized the awesomeness of it all...you gave a fitting end to the game, and you can all hold your heads high and demand worthy praise from mere mortals!! ;-) RIP Halo 2 [Edited on 05.11.2010 4:45 AM PDT]

 •
Posted by: Bond_WM The few of us who were on streams all said during the rare times we seen him. "who the -blam!- is this apache guy? another idler i guess..."
All I will say on this matter (like I have always said) and Booker can confirm this... "I STAYED AWAY FROM STREAMED GAMES, I wasn't in it to be recognized, I meant to be a shadow in the last few games, I didn't want to be on any leader-boards, I didn't go around shooting and getting all stressed about people glitching... I played to have fun. I did have a full time contract which ate up alot of my time. I played when I could, if I was at home I was playing. Sure I idled... you all did too. I work in the industry, I have worked on games that you all own or have played. I work on games BEFORE YOU even know the game is coming out...I'm not bragging, I'm just stating how it is. I work on video games all day long, sometimes when I get home I really don't want to see a TV/Computer screen let alone hold a Game Controller. For all you trolls out there... You can all make a stand on the "Mentioned Game Here" I'm sure your well suited for. I'll leave that one up to you to finish. As I was connected to Halo 2 for all those days, I would like to confront the hatters who sent massages telling me to get a life and buy a new xbox360 and new games... I had (at the time) had over eight (8) unopened games that I hadn't touched yet ... and still have a few un-opened games that I still haven't had time to open & play yet. I have 3 more that I'm picking up this weekend, (Split Second [I think its called], Red Dead Redemption, and a 3rd that I cant remember atm). I play games (like most people do) and move on when something new comes out that interests that given player/person. Halo 3 was the new thing, we all moved on, and I would come back from time to time, but in all honesty... there was alot of cheating, glitching, pulse-modding done in Halo 2. I'm not hating, but that stopped me from playing a game I loved so much. I followed my crew, and my crew was sick of the BS related to the problems... Halo 3 was new so there wasn't the same amount of BS going on... ODST had firefight, we all moved there... wait till September 14th 2010 and see how many people move to REACH... I know I will, but that doesn't mean I am not a HALO 3/ODST fan... just means I follow my friends and join in new fights and conflicts on other games. I wont mention any names here as my intentions are not to bring someone else down as you all have chosen to do with me, I did wonder myself for many days (even down to the final 12) where a few players were, if they were in fact idlers but then came to the realization that they probably worked, went to school, had lives outside waiting in a lobby looking for someone to play games with. Just yesterday morning I was looking to play a game on my day off and when I was playing (and wanted to play) there showed only 4 people outta my 150+ people on my friends list (I say over 100 as I have two accounts... Two accounts means I have the potential to have up to 200 friends... do the math) so at the time that I wanted to play 2.667% of my friends that were online but were showing away... It's strictly numbers... some of us are on different schedules, Yes I idled... but you cant say none of you didn't either. That's all I have to say on this matter... I will leave any further comments un written... hate, bash and troll all you want... just know I survived and out lasted all you trolls. I enjoyed the time and games I played, enjoyed the friendships made... I will have them forever, your comments I'll forget by this weekend! Don't hate the player, Hate the game!

 • i agree with this man... Apache, like many of us, was shocked to hear Halo 2 would disappear from XBL. and i 2 say was also shocked to hear that.... most of us that play halo, xbl or any thing that even has to do with an xbox have paid our respects and said goodbye to halo; the game that started it all, xbl v.1 that connected us to the world, and the most spacific... halo2... R.I.P to this game... and its legendaryness

 • I'd just like to say that although I've made it clear that I didn't really like the thought of idlers sticking it out in menus, Apache was the last man standing.... Saying that because he only appeared back online just before Halo 2 was to end is just daft...I know perhaps the biggest Halo fan in the universe, who has every piece of merchandise and dresses up as the chief, etc. and he has only ever played online for about a month, a year or so ago...Playing online does not exclusively make you an uber-fan...even for multi-player..... So like it or not, the guy was the last....Halo 2 is dead and all the haters are doing is disrespecting it by arguing at the funeral...Loads of other, probably bigger Halo 2 fans than the last 50 even, gathered to see it off on the 15th at midnight and then left after it continued, only to be denied seeing it's true end... So to argue is pointless...Apache is standing on the shoulders of giants..The Halo 2 community as a whole! A community who came together and put aside the hate to see off something they loved...a community that, true to human nature, is reverting back to name calling and poop throwing now that the event is over.....

 • I totally understand where your coming from and agree to a point. Bungie's announcement of prizes brought a lot more people back for one last swing, which was good but also bad. Without de-railing, that's awesome fragged got the last recorded kill, she deserves it for streaming for us all. Did bungie contact her or was it discovered from game log searching? It's all good mang, I wasn't sure as i'm a few hours off a 14 hour night shift myself and we played against each other enough after the cutoff anyway. Sometimes, it doesn't hurt to check, y'know :)

 • oh and the point of "risking his xbox" is a bull -blam!- excuse. my elite has been on since april 2009. no RROD my launch day one has been on for at most 2 months and no RROD either so idk why everyone thinks that is an excuse to be a "loyal" fan, "risking" xbox isnt a "loyal" fan, loyal fans would play the game as much as they can.

 • nah wasnt a shot at you. but the last 25 minus about 5 people including apache idled most of the time. we looked down on that, we understood about school/work but all his games that were recorded 15th-19th when they stopped recording were all on one page where as most of us had at least 2 pages of games. and he did play a few games i played with him once in the last 50 after that he dropped off map and we [the final 25 ish] hoped all people that idled most of the time would have a net loss and be kicked off because of the fact they are only there for the "glory and or prizes" of being last on Halo 2. I am happy my friend Frag/ T0 BE CONTINUED got the last recorded kill on halo 2. I am not speaking for everyone that was in last 25 ish but for the majority that were on frag's and later on z0mbiestench, booker, mr7ank's streams of halo 2. The few of us who were on streams all said during the rare times we seen him. "who the -blam!- is this apache guy? another idler i guess..." If it seems I was trying to take a shot at you, Sorry feeling like -blam!- brain not fully together.

 •
Posted by: Bond_WM lol was wondering b/c i have seen a ton of people who wernt in the final 25 trying to say they knew how it was exactly on there with us. <_< clouded mind a bit from being sick as hell
Well, to be honest i think most of us would have loved to be known as the last person online for halo 2. So, i think it's unfair to hate on him because his isp outlasted everyone else. He risked losing his xbox for the point of being one of the final few and regardless of how much he played, he still outlasted everyone else. I'm not interested in a debate or argument over the matter, but i did have a game with apache here so he did play somewhat, but it's besides the point. I stayed on mostly because my regular crew got booted off, i stayed on because i've given over 5 years to the halo franchise, grinding thru so many yellow pings and hosty bollocks. I've been thru 3 360's since launch and i didn't even think twice about it frying again. Because halo was worth it. I'm sure apache did it for similar or the same reasons. It would have been nice to have the accolades the final 20 or so have received, but i'm happy that the good fight was fought. It once again sparked a great interest in the game that made xbox live what it is today. I understand Microsoft's reasoning with project natal etc coming up but i doubt this is the last we'll see of halo 2 on xbox live. I'm not sure if you are taking a shot at how long i lasted, but i was inside the final 50, or so i'm told. **Edit: actually just had a look at apache's game history, that was his last recorded game, when i posted, i was looking thru my game history. meh. • Too bad he couldn't have held out for 4 more days. Then Halo 2 would have really ended 1 month later to the day that it was supposed to end. Even so well played good sir, that is dedication. RIP Halo 2 and Xbox 1.0

 • Sweet, sweet, child (with emphasis on the latter independently), when you grow older or mature or both, you will realize one does not need to stay with a great product, person, or organization to both honor and respect it. All Halo and the gaming world realizes the impact Halo 2 had on our respective worlds, and to denigrate anyone who finds even the smallest way to honor a mythic legacy, is both juvenile and petty. Apache, like many of us, was shocked to hear Halo 2 would disappear from XBL. Bungie asked us to return for one last Halo 2 party. And so we came...in thousands to pay our respects to its greatness. No one knew what would happen that night. Like the children selected to be Spartans, they did not choose their destiny. In the end, Cortana did not choose the best, but rather the luckiest. In this last battle of Spartans on the battlefields of Halo 2, in the end it came down to vindication of Cortana's wisdom that in war, luck can be as valuable as skill and experience. Apache was indeed so lucky. We do not disparage John-117 for his luck. And he never forgets all who fell around him. Nor does Apache or any of us who understand honor. So let us raise our glasses and toast the fallen, the heroes, the valiant, the impassioned, and especially those who fought the fight to the bitter end. Child, we'll warm your milk so you can join the ranks of those who respect each other in memory of a legendary game.
