No, America is not Christian exactly. But it is a nation under God. It was founded largely by believers, many of whom were Masons. There is a lot of masonic principle involved. Especially separation of Church and state. Masons are required to profess belief in a God but are forbidden from speaking about religion or politics in lodge. I believe that's where the separation principle comes from.
