Does anybody know the lore behind the first curse besides the fact that it was made by the same person who made the last word?

Simple sloppy answer picking bits out of the cards because lol lore. First curse is the actual gun that was used by Ward when he killed Yor. It was the gun passed around, despite being TLW's cards, since they were telling not of TLW itself, but how it got that name. The guns (TFC/TLW) look identical except for the color. We have all known since vanilla that the Golden Gun super is TLW, and it even states in the card how the "Fire ran through his arm into his cannon" and fired those legendary three shots. Get this: First Curse was "lost to fire." When Ward channelled the light into it, telling Yor "Yours, not mine" to the remark about being an end, the First Curse he was holding was "Lost to fire" (his solar light) and that final shot became his "Last Word". There begins the TLW legacy, explains the absence and mysterious destruction of TFC, and the origin of Golden Gun, in a kinda sorta lore friendly way. Don't care if it's accurate or not, but makes a hell of a lot more sense to me than the spinfoil hat conspiracy theories I see all the time.

I wonder why no one mentions the markings on TFC and TLWs' cylinders... an engraving of a flower, dare I say.. a rose. Also that Dredgen Yor's symbol is this image, minus the stem and in full bloom.

Edited by Серафамор: 11/4/2016 11:52:05 PMAll we really know is that the First Curse was manufactured before the Last Word, or at least that is implied. Source: Grimiore Card, The First Curse We also know that the original Curse was "Lost to Fire". The exact meaning as to what that means is fair game. It could mean literal fire, or Solar Light or Energy, as the later is most often associated with fire. The First Curse we as guardians own is a replica of the Original. It is also implied that the Original had some sort of powerful effect when killing, referenced by the "Imprecation" Quest Line, as well as Banshee-44 shows clear fear or nervousness when giving us the completed weapon. Also, it is as OP as hell. Edit: In PvE.

The first curse is TLW'S sister gun given to Jaren Ward's twin brother who ended up becoming dredgen yore turning the first curse into thorn. I have no idea if this is actually true or not, probably isn't.
-
It's implied to be a "brother" of thorn and last word and it could mean there was a third guardian involved with the incident of the 2 hand cannons but that's what I think, I got this from the item description
-
I think in order to make this gun a little bit more viable in PvP would be the ability to 2 tap( but not in a way that's OP) and not just 2 tap a guardian running low armor. my idea would be upon activating it's perk it grants you everything it already does plus a "cursed" bullet that does extra damage. It would be the first bullet of the magazine hence "The first curse". Idk might sound stupid but just a idea to give it a little more power in the crucible.

Fűck ^ there's your first curse

Why no dual wield with both

Look at it in my grimior

Edited by Sniper_430: 11/4/2016 10:46:18 AMI always thought it was called the first curse as a reference to being an undead killing machine. Mainly because the "Last words" are "yours not mine" the "First Curse" is "when death becomes an afterthought" ie. being cursed with undeath since it's apparent some guardians really don't dig being undead.

God there is so much fantastic lore Bungie never bothers to use

I would say that the First Curse was an exceptionally powerful and deadly hand cannon (like it is now lol) manufactured by Tex Mechanica in the Golden age and early days of the city. Most likely in the battle of the Twilight Gap or Faction Wars, models, archived information and the blueprints of this weapon were destroyed and lost to time. Thx for mentioning First Curse, as it is probably my favorite hand cannon in the game, and i'm getting another one on my hunter today. (:
