Parthian Shot!

Been Playing for a week now and totally loving the new content, I didn't much like House of Wolves but I like the SIVA/Fallen and the sort of 'revisiting' theme of the whole RoI expansion, right down to the exotic Khvostov! But more on this in another post. Those of you who've read my posts before will know that I don't post religiously, but every now and then I come across a new weapon that I think it really worth talking about. This time around its the Parthian Shot high impact Vanguard pulse rifle. I'll declare an interest. I hate pulse rifles. using them feels more like keyhole surgery than combat. Having said that I didn't mind Bad JuJu and Hawksaw and the old Hopscotch Pilgrim made me look like a Crucible king at times as did Grasp Of Malok (which I just got). Nevertheless, I never found a pulse rifle that I would seriously consider using as my 'go-to' for PvE until now. I've always favoured a good hand cannon (of which there are precious few, especially since the Hawkmoon nerf and Fatebringer retirement) or a scoutie (Badger was my fav). I like to do 'damage' and I don't mind if I have to strafe a little while I reload. This is why I love the Parthian. Imagine a high impact scoutie where each round is split up into 50-100 mini-rounds and you have your Parthian. This has significant advantages over something like Badger because if you miss a little bit with a badger...you've ..er ..missed. Miss a little-bit with the Parthian, you still do damage, and unlike other pulse-rifles, enough damage to really count. I've just been using this on the Siva Crisis Heroic Strikes and with Primary Weapons and IronClad and this beast crunches shields and does it from scout-rifle range. I just stand there now and let the captains stealth vandals and elder stuff just run onto me while I calmly and rhythmically press the trigger over and over. Of course with really strong enemies you can't really miss otherwise you have to move pretty sharpish. With the dregs etc. this makes pretty short work of those. It works best at some distance and when you have some control of the battle field (i.e you know where everything is...it's all open), a weapon for aggressive predatory style of play.(which I use). it's no good in a chaotic fire-fight (Auto rifle territory all day long) but it's better up close than a high impact scoutie while doing more or less the same damage at distance without having to hit a postage stamp 2-3 times to achieve this. Could be good in pve too paird with a side-arm. I really really like it! at the moment the only primaries I may consider over it are my Imago Loop (which has Fatebringer perks), my Khvostov (or maybe my Shadow Price or Continental, if I need the exotic slot for something else and I feel an autorifle is appropriate). One of the new scouties is yet to drop for me and before this I had been using my Treads Upon Stars (which is lacklustre by comparison). Let's see If I still think it's great after I get one of the new scouties! UPDATE EDIT: Just got the Dead Orbit Scoutie Keystone 01 with full auto and firefly! Lower aim assist and stability make a sort of poor man's badger, but full auto (which you could never get on the badger) could be interesting! It's the highest attack weapon I have now so I'm going to use it extensively. Watch this space!
