Then there's a simple solution: Don't wear the mask. It's optional. No one is forcing you to put one on, there is no gun to the back of your head, no family member will be dismembered or killed if you don't put it on. And if you do wear it? God forbid if for one match or one strike you don't have your highest light possible. Seriously, two one-off activities is all you have to go through, and even then, for the crucible portion, you can take the mask off the moment you get your kills done, so you can still be max light by the end. And for the strike, you can put your normal helmet back on if you want to open the strike chest with a key, there is plenty of time to do so. Or does logic and thinking hurt you?

  • Watch the Extra Credit video linked in the thread. This is a simple, known and solved solution that Bungie opted not to use, that just adds tedium to the player and no real value. Yes, you can equip best gear for decrypting, or grabbing raid gear. All activities don't give you a pause to do the switch. Crucible, Archon's Forge for example you don't have the time to switch gear. Now, if this was hard - I could see as argument against it. But it isn't. If players got something out of the process some benefit, I could see as argument against it. But there isn't. Just because you can work around a poor design choice by Bungie, doesn't change the fact that it is a poor design choice by Bungie.
You do realize this isn't just an issue with FOTL right? Sure, you can change your loadout every time you turn in engrams, finish strikes/crucible rounds, open a chest, rank up a faction, beat a boss in the raid....but that's pretty damn annoying. Maybe you should try some of that "logic and thinking."

Ok, let's look at outside of festival of the lost, even though that was the persons chief biatching point. Have gear you prefer to use but it isn't your highest light stuff? GOOD NEWS EVERYONE! destiny has this great new feature called infusion, where you can take higher level gear and put it into the stuff you prefer to use! Hole eee shat! That's miraculous. You can make the gear you want to use your highest level stuff, who would have thought they would make that possible? Wait... What's that? You like having two load outs, one for pve and one for pvp? Then do what all the smarter people do and make sure you only infuse into those items you know you are going to use instead of just holding onto everything, or doing a lot of tiny little infusions that waste your resources for gear you aren't using. As to getting drops equivalent to your highest light stuff in your inventory: that would be brokest, cheesiest, laziest way for the whiners to boost their light to max so quickly they will quickly get bored with the game. Why? Because then you just piecemeal all your decent drops across all characters into your inventory and then cheese exotic engrams to boost light levels, candy bam, 400 light in 20 minutes flat. Bungie isn't lazy, they shouldn't be called out over it, they just know how people will abuse it and were ahead of everyone who thought they were being clever.

😂 I can't believe you're raging about somebody who pointed out something that annoys 90% of players. Higher light items drop 1 at a time. So you have one choice if you want to get the most out of your effort or do a bunch of swapping every freaking time you complete something in the game. You act like people never decide to use a hand cannon instead of their favorite scout that they infused or switch exotics and armor depending on what subclass they are running. There's plenty of reasons to switch things up. You're trying too hard man. He's just pointing out something annoying, that doesn't have to be. It's not cheesy to make sure you're getting 390+ loot if you're 390. Playing for less than that is just dumb.
