I think it's pretty good, but the real test will be in 3-4 weeks to see if it has any staying power. PvP only online shooters fall out of rotation so fast now.
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there will be a dedicated crowd, and it's fun for that crowd, but very few people on my friends list have stayed in a single game for more than a month in the past 3 years, and this type of game, for me, becomes unplayable without playing with friends.

Seeing how BF4 is still going strong I don't think there's going to be an issue.

Definitely, it's done very well after it's rocky start, but also consider that since BF4 they've also released hardline and battlefront, which haven't done nearly as well. They most definitely have dedicated fans, but they're ultimately just not as successful at keeping the players that were interested at launch.

Well BF4 was multiplayer only and is still going strong to this day, and I'm enjoying the hell out of BF1 even when I play solo
