What is the best way to kill the captains?
In aksis, the hardest part is the captains. I'm about 370 light and The captains and shanks do insane damage so what is the best strategy when killing captains?
Especially for phase 2.

So I have used Dark Drinker and it sure is effective but its very risky and from personal exp it is not worth the risk.
Are there any good other options besides gjallarhorn? Possibly legendary alternatives or something.
Btw I have only really run right side on Aksis. Is right the hardest?
So uh questions then...
1. Is Dark Drinker/Raze the only good options?
[b]2. A 370 Eyasluna WILL NOT one shot the shanks[/b]
3. Any good legendary launchers from vendors? Cluster bombs maybe?

Exotic sword. No question

As a hunter, I hit them with smoke (envenom). Then they are blinded and don't teleport. Now you have options. 1. Exotic sword. Dark Drinker or Raze Lighter. Your pick. 2. Super. If you are running tether, it's going to be your team mate's super. 3. Full auto shotgun. - the Iron Banner one is a beast against those guys. 4. Other heavy. Rockets can be dangerous if you are too close to the blast. Machine gun, especially the raid one, is a great option.

Most assured way is Stormcaller. You not only kill the captain, you also kill any low level enemies left behind. 2nd best is an invisible hunter with a sword. I recommend Dark Drinker for Aksis damage. For Titans, at least use your sword. Definitely play right or left as middle has no cover.

4 RepliesAs a Warlock, Void Bomb As a Hunter, Tether and kill As a Titan, Fist of Havok. Don't be afraid to use your super on captains rather than the boss. Reason 1, if you utilize the discharge, you get your super back. Reason 2, you don't need a tether, or weapons of light to do enough dps to the boss and still have him dead in 3 rotations.

I'm surprised many people struggle with captains when GG can easily take care of the job. People, nightstalker isn't the only hunter subclass. If you are not using hunter, then FoH, nova bomb, hammers and swords should work fine, but make sure you clear out most of the shanks before you get closer to the captain.

1 ReplyMy opinion just make sure you get all the adds gone. The first few times I ran it, always seemed like we were in a rush to kill the captains and left shanks out that murdered some of our lower light ppl. Get rid of the shanks and both ppl on whichever side can double up on the captain easily and take him out. Raze lighter is my preference. But DD does more damage to aksis himself. I just think unless it's a speed run, make sure everyone has their adds cleared then wipe the captains and get on with it.

Dark drinker for captains and Aksis DPS (weapons, tether, viking funeral + dark drinkers and cannons=aksis down in 2 or 3 rounds)

I'd say raize lighter, or dark drinker swords.

I personally like to run Outbreak, Quantiplasm, and Sound & Fury. Fire two shots with sound and fury, then finish him off with two Quantiplasm shots.

As other's have said, dark drinker or raze lighter work really well. You could also just use a shotgun if that's what you have

Dude grind out the heroic strikes, itll help you level up, 370 is asking to be carried on raid, before going to captain, tether/self res/or use bubble to stay alive, razelighter is your best friend

Swords drop captains fast. Otherwise make sure you and your position partner team shoot him down.

Once the shanks are killed off(always kill every shank first), rush the captain, if he starts shooting just dodge behind cover. He shoots in 4 shot cycles, so dodge and then r2 with raze or drinker.
