it is absolutely intended that average players do not go to the Lighthouse. There is nothing to fix there.

Not my words, those of the Bungie lead pvp designer, Mantis: https://mobile.twitter.com/_mantis_/status/787114500960821248 It's attitudes like that which make me throw money at the screen Edit: Another thread in #Destiny, started before mine about the same tweet, if people want to see others thoughts, and share their ideas their too: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/216432709?page=0&sort=0&showBanned=0&path=1

I am a daily destiny play since launch, I started playing pvp around a year in to destiny and love the 6 v 6 game modes in any flavour..... Mayhem clash this week was awesome. I'm a great team mate to have in banner and give as good as I get..... However 3 v 3 I am dog sh1t, I understand why I don't go 9-0 and I know what to do to get there, play more elimination game mode and become comfortable in that game mode.... I respect trials and flawless I'm not worthy of it just yet and I like that fact. Because it proves destiny has a space for every one and teaches improvement gives you rewards

  • I've read lot here about "paid carries", how does that work actually? If they have 1 guy that basically all he does is dying repeatedly then they are already at great disadvantage, and yet they carry that dude to the lighthouse? That's some fucking skill on show and the team losing against "carry team" is twice as bad.

    • These Trials of Osiris posts are some of the most interesting posts that I see on the forums. Why? Because it is an interesting comment on what our society has devolved to: strive for mediocrity and if someone else is thriving, pull them down with you. It is a simple formula folks: if you can't do something, keep trying until you can. In all honesty, you can't jump on LFG and log into the first group playing trials and really expect to go flawless the first card. I've been lucky to go to the lighthouse 2x during Rise of Iron. I'm an average PVP player, not a great k/d but I have some friends that are really good, I pay attention, I can follow directions and I put a lot of effort into improving my game. That's how I got there. I have recently played with a couple of guys that are about on equal skill level with me and guess what? Last week we got WRECKED and didn't win any games on the card. This weekend, we got wrecked BUT we also won a couple of games on our card (no boons). In the space of a week, we have developed an amount of chemistry and communication that has allowed us to improve. Are we ready to go to the lighthouse yet? Probably not. We played 1 guy (only one on the team) and he was amazing. We got two rounds up and then he hit the gas and smoked us! He was practicing 1v3 obviously. It was incredible fun to be a part of, if only to see that there are some truly spectacular players out there and what they can do. I know this sounds like a repeat but keep practicing and you'll improve. It's disgusting how many self-entitled folks want their participation trophy (like when they played pee-wee soccer). Grow up or go do something else.

      • What an obnoxious comment. "average players" you mean most of your player base, the ones who don't obsess over an emblem or a light level, the ones who don't raid (the vast majority), the ones who don't go flawless (the vast majority) or the "average players" that keep you in a job by playing your game.. poorly? Seriously these guys should not be allowed to talk in public.

        • But its true, average players won't have the skill level to get a 9-0 card. 7-1 maybe, but they are relying on boons.

        • Lol all the comments under that twitter post are special weapon related, and no notices... Ok, so heres the problem with destinys pvp especially trials, "primary" weapons are used as back ups, and "special" weapons are used as a primary, this should simply not happen, calling a weapon slot "primary" means that this is the weapon slot you should be primarily using, yet in trials you walk out of a 5 round match with 90% of your kills with a special weapon be it shotgun, fusion, or sniper. In other games these types are typicaly "power" weapons or your characters health is to low to matter (battlefield, COD) so i think its interesting that the lead for PVP sees nothing wrong with that. What i have issue with, is destiny makes you play like an asshole, basically forcing you into a shitty play style where you have to use a small selection of primary weapons and then you either have to snipe or shotgun..i seriously hate getting to the light house, it makes me feel like king douchebag, and you shouldnt feel like an asshole for winning, destiny has become basically nothing but sniping, shotgunning and panic supering (using your super to save you from imminent death) crucible is just becoming a sad place.

          • Plus people need to put in practice and a lot of effort if they wish to go flawless in the Trials of Osiris. I've went 36x because I've had good communication with teams and have practiced quite a bit. Also if you want to go flawless more than once you need to become comfortable with all of the characters that aren't your main. If you don't have time to practice then why complain, just make time or don't do Trials.

            • As I said in another thread about the same thing. If you want Trials to change, boycott it. The "average player" makes up the majority of the player base. If we all stopped doing trials, two things could happen. 1: the top 10% of players would be forced to play against each other. This would cause them to begin complaining that trials is now too hard. Either they would also stop playing, or they would demand a change. Or 2: since so few are playing trials, that Bungie would feel it isn't as accessible to everyone as it once was. Look at raiding, so few players were able to complete some raids, so they progressively were made easier and more accessible to thosr who weren't skilled enough to complete it. The same can happen to trials if it becomes barren. All in all, if you are unable to make it to the lighthouse with ease, don't do trials at all. Vote with your feet. If you don't like it, walk away.

Correct!!!! I'm not sure what the big deal is...bungie gives us multiple ways to max light and level....if you're horrible in trials oh well .....trials isn't intended for everyone...and neither was the raid.

            • I agree! Bungie should make it so that you only have to play 1 match of Trials. Whether you win or lose, you get a message that says, "Congratulations! You've participated in the Trials of Osiris! Go to the Lighthouse to get your adept weapon and ornament!"

            • As a distinctly below average pvp player and very average pve player, may i commend the OP for speaking and pointing the truth. I have little to no chance (and really no interest) in the lighthouse. On a side note i was auto-recommended 4 different facebook pages for paif lighthouse carries this morning. Each well over 2500 fans. Seriously?

            • It is only intended for cheaters, people only using metas, streamers, people who charge for it, to go there. If you do not fall into any of those don't bother. Chances are when Destiny 2 comes, Bungie will do what they intended, kill PVE on this one and make ToO every day, since there's nothing else coming after that.

I wish all "average" players would unite and avoid trials until changes are made They would be made very quickly once the elite only have the elite to play against, then they would whine about how they want to use fun loadouts and how it's too sweaty Carries wouldn't be a thing bc they would immediately put you at a disadvantage

                • How can trials be skill based when the only skill required is a higher light level, im 387 titan and i play with nearly maxed armour, but i still get 2 shot by a guys mida when hes just a 395 hunter, how is that a fair thing? Thats not skill, thats the abillity to damage someone more than they can you, and the matchmaking is so poorly done, ill have a team of a 378 387 and 390, and it will put us against a team of 395+ everytime, how are we ment to go flawless there? Im not an 'average player' i know how to play pvp competitively, but that is not trials, and until its made light level advantage disabled then it will never be skill based.
