Is Supremacy the worst game mode for Iron Banner, ever?

Yes. Yes it is, for the following reasons: 1. It promotes entirely selfish play, even on a fireteam. I’ve played solo and in a full team of six, and there is little teamwork involved (other than yelling “Grab that crest!” or “Stormcaller incoming.”) 2. Let’s be honest: racking-up kills when nobody grabs the crest gets real old, real fast. 3. As a Day 1 shotgunner, shotguns are a plague in this game mode. Because of it, they’ll likely get nerfed. 4. Slide shotgunning is the Call-of-Dutiest tactic, and should be essentially removed from the game. Sliding should be a defensive tactic; it should be pure luck if you happen to hit your target while sliding. 5. This game mode is best-suited to twitchy kids and folks chugging Red Bull. The massive ADHD Hunter population is at home in a Supremacy Iron Banner. 6. Finally, and most troubling, Iron Banner Supremacy brings out the worst of the PvP player. I have seen more teabagging and taunting in this IB than in any previous IB. Not good, Bungie. This is NOT the PvP play you want to be promoting. Or maybe it is. Edit: 7. Picking up a crest should NOT charge your super. Only kills - whether the crest is picked-up or not - should charge your super.

Good post, a few of my thoughts below. Normally I agree with you, but this time I differ in a few places. First and foremost I don't think Supremacy was the worst IB ever, to me Rift holds that esteemed honor hehe... :-)
Yes. Yes it is, for the following reasons: 1. It promotes entirely selfish play, even on a fireteam. I’ve played solo and in a full team of six, and there is little teamwork involved (other than yelling “Grab that crest!” or “Stormcaller incoming.”)
I would disagree a little here. It was easier to get wins on a fireteam vs. solo. We'd communicate and stick together making sure someone grabbed crests. Solo, yeah that was a bit of a problem.
2. Let’s be honest: racking-up kills when nobody grabs the crest gets real old, real fast.
This is true, again, with a fireteam this wasn't really a problem.
3. As a Day 1 shotgunner, shotguns are a plague in this game mode. Because of it, they’ll likely get nerfed.
Shotguns are tailor made for this game, it no surprise they're being used a lot. Bungie would have to be complete idiots to nerf shotguns because of one game mode.
4. Slide shotgunning is the Call-of-Dutiest tactic, and should be essentially removed from the game. Sliding should be a defensive tactic; it should be pure luck if you happen to hit your target while sliding.
Oh man... here is one I have to disagree with. To me its just part of the game. I'm not the best at it but it's a strategy that works and can save your life against fusions rifles as some of the fusion projectiles go over your head. To me there's way bigger problems in the game.
5. This game mode is best-suited to twitchy kids and folks chugging Red Bull. The massive ADHD Hunter population is at home in a Supremacy Iron Banner.
Aren't most of the people playing this game twitch kids? I'm an old guy and I found that I did ok most of the time. My biggest issue is with the matchmaking being terrible, and the fact that they don't appear to consider light level when doing it. In the vast majority of the games I played solo I was matched with people that had light levels that was 25+ higher than mine. I lost a lot of one on one encounters purely because of that. Shotgun trades for me were few and far between, I'd be dead and they would still have just a bit of health left as expected. That said, ya it's a mode that favors the dexterity and reflexes of youth.
6. Finally, and most troubling, Iron Banner Supremacy brings out the worst of the PvP player. I have seen more teabagging and taunting in this IB than in any previous IB. Not good, Bungie. This is NOT the PvP play you want to be promoting. Or maybe it is.
This! Yep, I'm not sure what was going on but you're right. There was an abundance of that happening. I had people tea-bagging me that happened to kill me after I killed 1 or 2 of their buddies and had no health and they get me from behind. And its like really? That's tea-bag worthy? Bizarre...
Edit: 7. Picking up a crest should NOT charge your super. Only kills - whether the crest is picked-up or not - should charge your super.
Kind of on the fence on this one but for the most part I agree with the idea that you shouldn't get super energy from both sources. I would suggest (and to your point above) that both kill confirmed crests and deny crests should give charge your super, and unconfirmed kills shouldn't. This would address your above concern of people running around not picking up crests. Nothing would annoy me more than to get killed with teammates around and see my crest sitting there and no one grabbing it. I actually had this on a few occasions where I was able re-spawn and get it myself with the same idiots still sitting close to it trying to kill people across the map with their Mida and no hope of ever picking up the crests from the kills they were getting. Anyway, yep improvements can be made. Personally, it was one of more fun IB's I think. I liked the pace of it, crucible for the bulk of year 2 was a snipe fest and people sitting back waiting all the time. I liked that we had to move in this mode, I found it way more fun that normal. I think Supremacy might be my favorite game mode hehe... A couple thoughts though. 1. Bungie needs to rethink the limit on Iron Medallions if they aren't going to award anything for loses and wins along with the 4 weekly bounties is the only way forward, it gets old real fast when the matchmaking is so bad. Never seen so many people quit rounds so early. To me that was a plague. I think they should allow up to 10 medallions and automatically cash them in regardless of whether or not you win that 11th game. That way at least it doesn't feel so futile. 2. I mentioned matchmaking above. If they were using SBMM it didn't feel like it. I could count on one hand the number of rounds I played in that were close. Other than that it was lopsided all the time and almost always had the "we're breaking up these teams to fine a better match" message at the end. 3. Matchmaking needs to consider light level for IB like events. It was night and day for me playing with people at or near my light level vs. being put in all the time with those that were way higher. It adds to the feeling of futility and discouragement when things are going bad knowing full well there's not a lot you can do about it.
