I believe you have to do the whole thing in 1 run without leaving the raid. So checkpoints don't work.

Thats what i figured, already have weapon and quest on second character but 3rd character has the CP so just curious if anyone has tried

We had 1 guy leave to get a cache key and re join after beating the boss and he didn't get the quest

shouldnt be the case, i stayed in a raid last night (never left on my second character only third) . I invited a full 4 people from LFG to the final boss fight (these people were not in the raid at all prior). All of them got the quest.
