Not a troll guys but lets be honest. You'll still buy it.
Sorry I had to get it off my chest. Fire at will.
Edit: thank you for all the replies. Surprisingly there are not many people supporting the 'no reset' camp.
I'd like to see a Mass Effect style carry over. Fresh start with the same character feeling. Good talk guys and gals.

I just hope we don't look like we have LEGO haircuts

After playing Destiny for 1300+ hours I think I'm ready to move on. Fresh start please :-)

I personally would welcome a new start if the world has moved on. To be perfectly honest as well, are we going to play the same game with the same graphics for the next 7 years? I don't think that's going to work. Also, starting a new character and playing through the old story and seeing the year one stuff again, I have to say, starting fresh is a big opportunity to begin a new version of destiny with fantastic and clear story out of the gate with more in game interaction and cinematics for exposition (so that things referenced to in the past aren't just a grimoire card) would be much better. Personally I could give a crap about cinematics I just want to see the story acted out more even if it's just the in game NPCs. I would love to see NPCs come out on missions with us. Then, improved game mechanics, engine, modes and systems for gear and leveling that just make more sense and aren't frustrating or confusing. More balanced weapons from the start and then you know that whatever is in two is contained in two and will be improved upon in the next major drop. It would be fantastic if by the end of a story line you were leveled to the next challenge and by the end of that challenge you were leveled to face the challenge after that. If the strikes are 350 light, blues should drop up to 350 in the story and patrols. I would welcome PVP that played a little bit slower, and be more of a brawl than a twitch death fest. Overwatch nailed this. There are so many ways to one shot and two shot people that the PVP modes, especially the 6V6 modes, that I feel PVP is just too chaotic. As a player that is new to shooters and new to PVP, crucible is a constant negative in my Destiny life no matter how much I improve. I wish I could get some training for PVP in the game. PVP is a purely punitive experience that "you just have to grind" to get better at. Well, the story missions teach me how to play the game, so why can't there be PVP teaching modes. PVE does nothing to prepare you for PVP in my opinion.

I absolutely would love a fresh start.

I'd love a fresh start.

Aslong as i get my shaders emblems and ships im all for a wipe of my character
-
i'm fine starting over. my issue is that if it comes on pc the patch notes will go out later in consoles.
-
If you don't like it and want to keep the same characters, weapons and armor then continue to play what you currently have. I on the other hand see great things on the horizon!
-
Kind of like cod. The difference of course between me and those people is that when I say things I actually mean it
-
They will buy it. I will buy it. Know why? Because it's gong to be the most sick badass rpgmmoshooter game you've ever seen. We have all been guinea pigs these last 2 years. Devs have been working on D2 since forever ago. I am dying with excitement over what they will give us with that release. Pve fans will be shitting themselves. It will be so epic. I don't even know. My wife may divorce me.
-
I am going to buy it. Destiny I think was the world's most expensive beta. I have a feeling Bungie has a much better idea of how the game should work. By that I mean how to space out content and how to keep the game playable for longer than a month at a time. Moreover the fact that they are strictly on to the next gen consoles, and rumored to be on PC, they will be able to sustain an all digital release format. Which lets face it that is the way consoles are going. So long as popular weapons are armor are carried over I think people will be happy.
-
Honestly, I probably wouldn't buy it on day 1. I'll wait and see what the new environments, classes and story looks like and then decide. I know for sure I won't be pre-ordering it or buying it on day 1 if our progress/characters/items don't carry over. Progress is what I care about most. I don't want "my legend" to start from 0. I want it to continue.
-
I think that with a fresh start it will open many opportunities to build on the destiny universe. There could be so many different ways that the story could advance for the better. If we keep everything, then that'll limit what the writers can do. I'm hoping for the best either way.

New characters and a exotic quest to get a weapon previously owned by a legendary guardian (named after one of our old characters)
-
To the people saying that no other sequel has had progress completely transfer from it's predecessor...there is always a first, so why can't Destiny be that first? I personally don't mind starting over as long as i keep my Grimoire and Cosmetics (maybe). But, you know... there is always a first.
-
I just don't get it.... it's normal to start again... i dont recall having my old FUT sitting waiting for me in the new Fifa... i dont recall all my old cars sitting in the garage when i got the new Forza... I dont recall having millions in the bank when i got the last GTA... (and some of these even have money invested, and yet no-one moans) I just don't get why everyone is so salty over this... Destiny 2 sounds like it is going to be a new game not an expansion so it comes as no surprise to me that we will be starting with a new character...
-
In all honesty, the player characters in destiny are just empty shells - they don't really speak, they don't make choices, there is no right and wrong. We may like the way they look and like their equipment, but as any new expansion (or whole new game) comes out, we change the way they look and the weapons and armour of choice. That being the case, I think Bungie could achieve both aims - letting us take our basic character models forward but also effectively starting again from scratch in a new game. I am thinking of some kind of surprise attack on the tower and the traveller, which forces the guardians to leave. The attack destroys the equipment vaults and drains or blocks the traveller's light - as a result when the fleeing guardians land on whichever new planet, they have no equipment, their light is dimmed (which could reset subclasses if Bungie wanted to), and effectively they start again. All that would require is for the basic character model to be carried forward to the next game.
-
I'm all for new everything.
-
If starting fresh is the price to pay for a new engine that can provide updates and expansions in a timely manner, then wipe away.
-
I wont like it because i want to keep playing with the character i made. I dont care if we start at level 1 and lose all our gear from destiny, but i want to keep playing as the same character.
-
Honestly a fresh start would be nice.
-
Yeah, I won't buy it at all. But not because I don't want to. I'm inbetween finishing uni (or college for you guys across the pond) and finding my first job and hell I don't wanna start a game that needs as much attention as Destiny when I finally get working - especially not from the beginning. That said, Destiny is the most satisfying and fulfilling shooter of all time imo with wonderful mechanics and ideas so I'll be super sad when I do stop playing.
-
I don't want to start over, but I wish there was a Great Clips, where I could get a guardian makeover. Made mine in a hurry in order to start playing. Little did I know - ugly was going to be permanent!
-
As a casual PvE only gamer I can say that Destiny 1 is one the best games I've ever played. Almost infinite replayability. I will buy Destiny 2 no matter what they do with it.
-
I don't understand why people are getting so irate about it. It's a new game people. Nobody complains that a character from cod isn't transferable with all the guns they earned in the last game.
-
Thing is this would really make some people quit. Same reason I didnt buy dark souls 2 or 3 even though I looooved that game. All those hours and gear collecting for nothing? No thanks
