Not a troll guys but lets be honest. You'll still buy it.
Sorry I had to get it off my chest. Fire at will.
Edit: thank you for all the replies. Surprisingly there are not many people supporting the 'no reset' camp.
I'd like to see a Mass Effect style carry over. Fresh start with the same character feeling. Good talk guys and gals.

i will be upset if we can't carry characters over butttt........... If the game leaks are true, and the game is going to be what has been leaked, then i think it is going to be even better than the current destiny. If it is a better game, why would you not still get it if you have had fun in this game? I get the sentimental value, and the gear that you have "worked" for, but even a baby lets go of its pacifier eventually, as calming and comfortable as that is to them. Moving on isn't necessarily a bad thing.
-
I wont
-
I don't care about the actual characters and the gear but I really hope stuff such as emblems will carry over. Pretty sure emblems will have their place in Destiny 2 too.
-
I'll buy it.
-
The game is in desperate need of a massive overhaul. I sort of hope that I can import my characters and that they give some cosmetic items to people that played Destiny 1 a ton. I also think it would be a bit of a shame if they completely abandoned the Destiny universe as the lore is some really cool stuff. Overall though I'm ready to move on from all my weapons and armor as well as from all current destinations. Out with the old and in with the new. I'll buy Destiny 2 regardless of how much they change.
-
Idgaf what they do with my character I'm honestly just more interested about what they're gonna do with the story and hope it's good.
-
They say that now, and will be the first to pre-order.
-
I'd say let your actual character, special emblems, shades carry over. Maybe a small level advantage (like 5) carry as well if you played the base game.
-
I don't see the point of not starting over
-
Lol, is so lame. The 'characters' we created are nothing but a face. And that face is for Destiny 1. Why would you want to restrict the creative process, the evolution of the game by demanding they carry over everything we've already done? Tbh, I'd prefer Destiny 2 had very little to do with the first game, at least from the human perspective. I'd love an entirely new galaxy with new species dealing with the traveller or whatever. It opens up so much opportunity for Bungie to create fresh ideas that aren't locked to what we already have.
-
A lot of these rumours about D2, more interactive areas, towns, large spaces etc... I recall a lot of grand rumours about D1, and we all know how that turned out. We've likely got the best part of a year, maybe longer until D2 drops, so I think any speculation right now is fruitless.
-
If you can't transfer characters, then it might be a completely different game and for that I may actually question buying it. I buy each destiny expansion because I played the demo and knew what I was getting into. If the game completely changes, it may not be what I would personally like/prefer from a video game.
-
I love my hunter but I'll still buy it if we have to start all over. I'll just pick a completely different class which I'm sure they'll have if you have to start all over.
-
As long as we still play as the same character, then I don't care if we lose our weapons and armor.
-
Poor Will.
-
Character transfer would be nice, but the guns won't transfer. It would be nice if d2 started similar to d1, you'd have a story about how the guardian fought god's and kings and prevailed and then they would call to your guardian to help against evil beyond the rim of our Galaxy etc... to let you all know I don't try to hunt down d2 spoilers, I want to be somewhat new to what comes...
-
Apparently they're thinking about getting rid of our current classes (Titan, Hunter and Warlock).
-
If there's any trace of skill based matchmaking in Destiny 2 I'm not getting it. If it has the last word which I doubt they would have an old gun in Destiny 2, but you never know I'm not getting it.
-
I want the same 3 guardians I started with for the long haul.
-
They should make new classes for the game and keep the old ones, but you shouldn't be able to use your old characters until you beat the game with one of the new characters.
-
I'd love to keep my emblems, but don't mind starting everything else over.
-
I want my character. I've spent 20 something days working on. He goes I go.
-
I'm happy they are getting rid of my characters. They are getting pretty old and losing there motor skills. Just the other day my Titan fell an e couldn't get up. It's about time Bungie gets rid of these scrubs of mine.
-
Guerilla marketing leaked Saturn's map would be bigger then of all current Destiny. Play in destinations, aka less loading screens, and towns. Yeah I'll give my characters up. Not like they won't do anything for D1 players. Plus y'all all know you've been wanting to change the way your Guardians look.
-
I'm totally fine with a new game and fresh start I think they should keep the current classes plus add new ones
-
Anyone who thinks that their stuff will carry over is being ridiculous. If you are someone that thinks this, then reply and I'll tell you why you are being ridiculous.
