Not a troll guys but lets be honest. You'll still buy it.
Sorry I had to get it off my chest. Fire at will.
Edit: thank you for all the replies. Surprisingly there are not many people supporting the 'no reset' camp.
I'd like to see a Mass Effect style carry over. Fresh start with the same character feeling. Good talk guys and gals.

Edited by DaJuan Hoonoks: 10/1/2016 9:11:52 AMIf it deletes my characters I won't buy it. I went from 2007 to 2014 not owning a console. I played Halo for maybe 4 hours once in that time span. That's after gaming since the mid 80's. Then In Jan of 2016 I bought destiny. Taken King was already out and I had a ton of content all at once. It Destiny 2 doesn't delete characters from D1, then I'll prob just wait a year or 2 before I buy it.

If you are still playing after all of the issues, you will continue to play regardless.
-
Naw, I don't mind mind to start over. But I saw on interview that Bungie will take Destiny 2 on PC only to create more map space.
-
I want it to start you over more than anything else
-
I am fine with starting over, no issue at all. The only thing I want is some kind of dlc timeline and an expected price guide. This dlc price was too high for what it actually gave us and THAT is actually the biggest thing that makes me hesitant to purchase destiny 2

Edited by vonnostyhammer: 10/1/2016 1:59:56 AMI almost didnt buy Rise of iron because im tired of bungies half assed approach to this game. Let us carry over our character to destiny 2, it cant be that difficult to rework the engine/gameplay and still implement the previous inventory. In theory somewhere in that office someone has been working on this "10 year plan" to solve problems just like that.
-
I won't buy it if they don't wipe all gear. They've nerfed every weapon into a huge gelatinous blob of who gives a Fack already, why bring that to D2?
-
I hope they have a full gear wipe, this game is broken beyond repair, only way to fix it is with a clean slate
-
I'm only going to get it if it's really good. No 6/10s.
-
Nope. I probably wouldn't. That would be one major promise broken too many. If I wanted to invest in a game where I had to restart every iteration I'd stick with COD or Mass Effect. A huge part of the promise and draw for Destiny is that our Guardians are OURS and will follow us through the ten-year life of the game.
-
I want destiny 2 to be a completely different game with completely new content with no gear from the first. It sounds crazy, but I think it's what destiny needs.
-
...but will you buy it if they have no time to explain why they have no time to explain the new story?
-
Nope. I already regret spending as much money and time as I have at this point. No sense in putting in any more.
-
Can't commit to buying anything far out, seen nothing and all we've Mainly heard about is a reshuffle, much like panic mode before D1. I'm afraid, and no I don't hate the game because PEW PEW PEW.
-
I'm really glad there starting over. What's the point in re skinning old content over and over. Who cares about your old toons when there's new ones to be leveled...
-
As long as I got something for playing all 3 years. Otherwise I would actually like to start from scratch. Everyone would be on equal footing again while everyone explores new weapons and abilities.
-
Of course we'll start over. Hopefully there will be more options for character creation. As far as bringing weapons over...don't mind that either. Our old guardians could become the new advisors. Each player sees their old characters. That would be cool.

Edited by InEsCaPaB1eFaTe: 10/1/2016 6:32:47 AMI WILL not still buy it. 😜
-
I know I will
-
I'm less concerned about my stuff than about their shit network setup. if Destiny 2 is run on a P2P network there's no way I'm buying it. 90% of my frustration in both pve and pvp is do to network issues and I'm not signing on for 2 or more years of that again, I'm fully prepared to finish out this one with a reluctantly purchased RoI and call it quits if there's no dedicated servers for the game.
-
For those who say your progress should carry over, name me 10 games that have had a Sequel (not expansion or DLC) which allowed a complete carry over. If there are 10 big name games that can be listed, then you have a point.
-
Who cares?
-
Game needs a full reset with a new engine. Dragging all the crap from D1 is not gonna happen. Just saying .....
-
Edited by DominicO24: 10/1/2016 1:31:47 AMTrue I'm all for a totally fresh start.

Edited by The Fighting Lion: 9/30/2016 10:20:35 PMDestiny should be brought into being what it should've been from the beginning; a full fledged mmofpsrpg. As it stands, it is a half assed, episodic, "shared world" game that's trying to be too many things at once, without full assing any single area. Make it a true mmo. We have the option to keep the original incarnation of our chars, which gives a sense of personal continuity. While much of our gear would invariably become obsolete, there are ways to find middle ground, as Destiny lends itself towards amassing equipment of all types and isn't your classic mmorpg or shooter. Holding onto your favorite armor: Easy. Give us a wardrobe system. Done and done. Holding onto your favorite weapons: More complicated. This requires the devs to achieve a truer platform of balance, so that with additional arms of different behaviours being added into the game (along with finite storage space), they only need to modify certain values to maintain said standard of balance. Use a "wyr" system, which is a form of socket system. This allows you to affix little items with certain stat values to your weapons. Think of it as a more intelligent, modular system of "infusion". There's more to it but, that's the gist. Your finite amount of wyr and vault space will help mitigate how many weapons you can keep relevant at any one time. This also allows them avenues into various player driven content through customization, making it so your gear becomes more personal and versatile. The devs, in turn, feel less of a need to implement a new series of mostly the same, reskinned weapons every year, allowing them to devote their resources and efforts in other areas. There is obviously much more that could or should be done in the future. Though, this would begin to tackle a few specific issues that many players have and I believe it would be a solid way to move foward. More options, not less.

I won't buy it if what I have done so far doesn't carry over. If it is more like Halo and nothing carries over with each new release, then I will.
