Bungie themselves need to explain how they work. I've heard so many different theories as to how they work, but it really seems to me like a horrible RNG system for them...

There is no cool down on them. Best place to farm exotics is the last RoI mission. Kill 2 of the bosses then jump off the map. Rinse and repeat as necessary

I agree. This is what I know to be true: 1. They do not stack. Never use more than one in a single boss or PvP match. 2. The average drop rate of engrams is about 1 in 5 in PvP, and over 1 in 7 after PvE bosses. I know this from a little experiment I (and a ton of people who participated after they saw my post) where I used one 3oC in 50 Crucible matches and on 50 PvE bosses. The averages reflect over 1000 3oC used among a lot of people is PvP and PvE. I don't even use 3oC in PvE anymore.

They work exactly like their description says. It is clearly explained

I may not be 100% accurate, but to my knowledge: The 'stack effect' doesn't mean the more you have active, the more likely you are to get an Exotic. It means that after you've killed an Ultra (well, most) or completed a PvP match with a 3oC active (exotic particles) but didn't receive an Exotic, the next time you use a 3oC, your chances of getting an Exotic increases. Its this effect that stacks until an Exotic drops and the effect resets. Hope that helps.

There is NO cool down, you just can't farm a boss like Draksis as successfully now with them. Use 1 at a time, per Ultra, per Crucible match etc. Don't ever expect anything either, it'll happen Wen it does 😀

I used to get good drop rates from 3oc but not anymore I think it has something to do with skeleton keys of which I have found zero random ones.
-
Hahah whats there to know. Use them. Check you character screen and make sure exotic particles is there and play if not pop one.
-
It is explained clearly in their description
-
Just use 1 at a time homie. Stock up on hundreds of those things and run heroic strikes.
-
Just use 1 at a time. Kill an Ultra, make sure it was in fact used in your menu, and pop another one and go kill another Ultra. Even at the Bond Brothers where both bosses can drop an exotic. If the first boss dies and you don't get a drop, pop another before the 2nd boss dies. It's just RNG. I personally have had a decrease in drops this week, but that's just my experience and doesn't mean much.
