Best Way to Level up Light?
I am currently about 320-ish light and would like to know your opinions on the best way to increase it. I am currently in a gray zone of having high enough light that things like story missions wouldn't help but things like raid and SIVA heroic strikes are all but impossible. Thanks in advance for the help!

3 RepliesDo the SIVA Crisis playlist until you hit 340. Everything that drops has potentila to help you. From 340 to 355-360, select the Devil's Lair strike set to 320 difficulty. This will change the name to Sepiks Perfected. This strike is the fastest you can currently run at 320, and Sepiks will drop two blue items (already decoded) that can take you to 365. Note that you have to select the strike from the map, bosses in the SIVA crisis playlist will not give you anything over 340 with the exception of the odd legendary engram, exotic engram, or rare engram that turns legendary/exotic. From 355-360 to 365, run heroics.The bosses will drop legendaries fairly often and a better chance at a skeleton key. Save all your exotic engrams and skeleton keys until you hit 364-365. From 365 up theese are most of theways to get higher light level items: - Exotic engrams or other engrams that turn exotic. - Faction packages - Eris rank up - Gunsmith rank up - Raid drops - Archon's Forge drops

Just patrol and collect engrams.Blues decrypt to 340,legendaries higher.Do patrol beacons to up your vanguard abd faction rep for those packages.When you get a legendary class item give it to Shiro with 5000 glimmer for a 350 class item.350 ghosts and stuff can be bought for legendary marks.Do the noble deeds quest this week for a 350 artifact. 340 is as easy to get to now as 290 was before,and in the same ways.

I was in the same boat a couple days ago, all my chars were below 320. I just picked one, played for a few hours each day grinding for blue engrams, then played the decrypt and switch game with the cryptarch. Also bought a couple 350 armors from vendors. When you get one char up to 340-ish, transfer your extra high light gear to other chars and infuse.

Just play the game. No sarcasm. That's what I've been doing. No farming, no saved engrams and haven't even launched the raid. All 3 characters can get to 369 light - no blue items.

To level up since RoI released I just kept running the normal Sepiks Perfected strike (320 level selected from the Earth map). It's easy and drops 2 higher level blues at the finish. Otherwise just run the Siva Crisis playlist but beware that at the moment (until Bungie fix it) there are two strikes (Phogoth and Malok I think) that are only dropping 240ish blues. At 320 you can just keep running patrols (making sure to do your daily public event for the legendary engram and 15 marks) and doing all the Shiro bounties to level up the Vanguard for your packages. You'll get plenty of blues to get you up to 340 pretty quickly.

Regular Siva strikes to 350 (using the rare drops from the strikes to level you up and any throw away exotics you get from 3oC). Once you hit 350, start the Heroic playlist. That'll get you to 365 (rares drop from that playlist up to 365 light and you'll infuse any throw away exotics/strike specific gear for an additional boost). Use an extra Skeleton Key intermittently to get a higher light artifact from the strike chests (they'll give you a strike specific item and a rare artifact at a light level higher than your overall currently equipped light level). Once you're at that 365 mark, the Raid, Nightfall and Nightfall tier rewards, vendor packages, strike specific gear, the forge, exotics, etc, will be how you continue to advance. Pretty much any current endgame activity will be a means to hit that 385+ marker.

Just do the regular Siva strikes, the rare items will get you to at least 340 eventually. Engram decryption is based on your current light level so you'll just have to slowly work your way up. Alternatively, go do King's Fall. Hard mode still drop 335 gear and has a way better chance to get higher light gear than just farming engrams if you're only 320.
