Corrupted 1.28 Patch/Game Reinstall PS4. Bungie and Sony blaming each other instead of fixing problem.

Like many people on this forum, I couldn't download the 1.28 PS4 patch. It says it was corrupted. Every other download and game I have works fine. I've downloaded 3 updates just today that worked. So, I came here looking to find what I could do and was amazed that Bungie were basically ignoring this issue. The only thing I saw was "You may want to stop downloading and reinstalling Destiny". So I tried that. The download for Destiny itself is giving the same message, corrupt. This as been going on since last night. Now, nearly 24 hours later and after ROI is out, They finally updated and are saying this: "If you are still encountering an issue with your download, please see the following suggestions: • Start the download from the Downloads queue in the Notifications menu. The download bar may say that is "Preparing to Download" for a while, but as long as progress is being made, please try to continue the download normally. • If you encounter the "corrupted data" error message or a console error code during the download, please stop or delete the download, clear your console cache, and then try again. If you encounter the issue again, please contact PlayStation Support. • If progress on the download bar stops, never starts, or otherwise stalls, you may want to try uninstalling Destiny, clearing the console cache, and then reinstalling Destiny. If you encounter the problem again, please contact PlayStation Support." I've tried all of that and still get "corrupted data". The funniest thing about this is they are passing the buck to Sony. Well, I did contact Sony Support earlier in the day and after awhile of pointless tasks, this is what they had to say, specifically Luz (I saved the chat log) "Luz (9/20/2016, 1:36:52 PM): I understand, I just researched and it seems the problem is with the file that is available in the server, since the issue is only with this game and the update file is allocated in Bungie servers I'd strongly recommend to wait for us to finish the store update which is every Tuesday, and also to report the issue with Bungie, I am filling a report so you can attempt to download it later." Bungie are blaming Sony and Sony are blaming Bungie. This is just great. Meanwhile, myself and others have purchase a game that can't run, have listened to HORRIBLE advice from the Bungie "Help" and deleted the game itself, which won't download. So, How about this Bungie; can you fix this instead of lying to us?

    • well good news got to 1 gb download on a mobile hotspot but i cannot download 31 gbs on my data 15 gb max i have verizon what i did was as soon as it was preparing i went into rest mode waited about 5 mins kicked it back on and it was at 500mbs so gonna try now to reset my modem and try the rest on mediacom wish me luck lol update just got my modem going so here we go should i do easy setup or custom with google dns idk what to do lol help update2 after the 1 gb download on my hotspot from verizon on 4g lte on a galaxy s6 curved i paused the download rebooted my modem (mediacom modem) and router (netgear blackhawk d7000) on standard setup then on my ps4 i went to easy setup for wifi. i am now 3 hour left 1.374 gb/30.234 gbs i hope this info can help anyone and i pray this keeps going i will post when done or if it stops if anyone has a question just ask thanks so much. 2.700 gb still going 4 gbs 7gbs 118 mins left yay 11 gbs i think im good now thanks everyone 60 mins left at 21 gigs

      • I made a thread about this, but I want to post it here as well: I have Mediacom Internet and was having the problem with corrupted downloads, you can see my other posts about this topic for how that went. I took my PS4 to a friend of mine who as Comcast Internet. When I first hooked it up (with a wireless connection) it didn’t work, same senerio of freezing on 207.5MB (I had to download the whole game again) I was going to hang out with him for awhile anyway so I figured I’d try a second time, and this time I put it in rest mode after starting it. 3 Hours later I checked on it, expecting it to have failed, and It was within 5GB of being finished downloading. Long story shorter, it finished and it worked. I started the game and went to the tower. I just got home and haven’t tried playing it yet, but the download finally worked. I have no idea how this works, but it really could be an issue with Mediacom. With that said, I’m going to (FINALLY) attempt to play this as I drink some beers and be happy I have tomorrow off. I will check up on this once the issue is resolved, because I have no idea why just Destiny downloads would be a problem with an ISP. For now, provided it plays), I’m going to do that.

      • Guys is it possible that it actually has to download the 31 gb? I rebooted the download hundreds of times and no 104 mb for me, I'm actually letting it download 31 gb but it is taking ages. Do you think after downloading it will work?

      • The same thing has happened to me, I've done everything that I have read on all the forms... I change my primary and secondary DSN to google (8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4). I cleared my cache, ive tried the pause restart method, the clear download and start the download again trick. I called PSN support asked them and he told me to open up my TCP/UDP ports... done it, but yet I still keep getting the same " corrupt fIle " message. I've done everything except for initialize my PS4 and deleted the game because that makes no sense to me at all. Now I totally understand that these things happen but we all did pay for the presence order for a reason and here it is now almost 24 hours and nothing. What makes it worse is that we can not even play the game at ALL and I LOVE this game, but what bothers me more is that we have not progress reports or heard nothing from Bungie except " we are working on it " Now I am not saying that I will never play Destiny again because as previously stated... I LOVE this game but Bungie please make this right!!!

        • To anyone I've talked to about this issue over the last few days, feel free to add me on ps4. Same as my name here. I'll have 3 characters to run through the story and a little company never hurts. Most of the guys I play with have finished the story and I'm not going alone. Exploring with other guardians is what makes this game fun for me!

          • Update guys Just had an all out with my ISP, Mediacom. I pushed and wheedled my way in and got a nugget of info. Sony has filed the suite to Bungie that there is an issue with Mediacom ISP users which will force Bungie to act a little more quickly hopefully. But now we can say there's an official recognition and the ball has been placed in Bungie's court. We have a definite path forming to a solution.

          • I also have mediacom. I have tried deleting the update, the game files, clearing the cache and resetting the dns on my ps4 like many others and still no luck. I also noticed if I delete everything and go into psn and go to rise of iron it says that it is already installed and doesn't give me the option to download it.

          • UPDATE 1 6:00PM EST September 21st 2016: So it seems some of the common issues are many of us have Mediacom Internet and bought the ROI expansion and not the collection. I’ve tried different methods of getting this download to work and thus far all have failed. I tried to connect the PS4 directly to the modem itself (I have a separate modem and router, which I bought because Mediacom’s combo modem/routers are absolute junk. If you are a Mediacom customer and have problems, not including this one, this helps ALOT) and that didn’t work. I tried connecting wirelessly (I normally have the PS4 wired to the router) and that didn’t work. I also tried to connect to my cell phone hotspot and that’s just so slow it didn’t start. Even if it would have downloaded past the dreaded 200MB where it dies, I couldn’t have finished it because of the data cap and the HORRIBLE advice from Bungie help when this all started about reinstalling the game. Reading some other threads, it seems many of us have mediacom, but not all. So this may not be a mediacom issue, at least entirely. What I’m wondering is if game licenses got screwed up. I noticed that Destiny: The Collection says purchased in the PS Store but I didn’t buy that, I bought the Rise of Iron expansion only. I’ve tried restoring my licenses a few times on the menu and it hasn’t helped once. I’ve also noticed Bungie have been dead silent today all threads about this topic, with the exception of a mentor who had the brilliant idea to contact Sony, something we’ve already done and tried. Absolutely insulting. So, here we are a day later and nothing. Looks like we have to do Bungie’s job for them, if we can. Then wait on them to fix it. And wait on Sony to ‘approve’ it. We got -blam!-ed on this deal.

            • Hey guys, another person claims that it may be linked to Mediacom Internet service provider. We all ran together yesterday trying to figure this out but we never asked the group what ISP they have. So... Who all has Mediacom for an ISP? ☺️

              • Same to me but it worked right away when I took my ps4 to my parents house to download . I was so passed but maybe it's my modem or cable company psn said and they were right

                • Try using a friend's or your work internet. Your ISP is probably causing the issue. I have Mediacom and had the same problem, took my PS4 to work, tried the download, they have a different ISP, and it worked fine!

                • Hey don't know if anyone has tried this but if you go on over to the psn store in a web browser you can view your download list and que for your system. I seem to have a blacked out game on my list (that says download error next too it) and when you click it will take you to the Destiny store page and say its in your list already *even though it isn't. Maybe this is why we cannot DL it because the place marker is a server bug or something. If anyone else has any info on this please let me know I want this damn problem isolated like I feel as a guardian right now...

                  • If still no one is having any luck, you may have to try backing up your files and reinitializing your PlayStation. My boyfriend downloaded the update, got this issue and nothing was working. Destiny borked his hard drive and he had to reinitialize. Works totally fine now though. IF YOU DO THIS PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF CTHULHU MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP YOUR FILES. Double check and make sure. If you don't... You lose everything...

                    • You know it dawned on me. That Bungie knows what the issue is but to fix it for the few without. Would take away from the many with. And I don't see Bungie doing that on launch day. Those of us without, are the involuntary test group.

                              • still not working for me ive tried everything refreshing cache rebuilding data base in safe mode deleting the game reinstalling it nothing works. if u delete the game it stops at 230.9 mb if u just update the 1.28 patch it stops at 25.70 mb its not psn it bungie for some reason a select few got a bad patch probably more like thousands not sure but it is corrupted on ur servers plz fix this
