Why is it okay for that to be the case outside the raid? Why shouldn't we get a raid exotic that's actually a worthy trophy for once?

ToM is a Trophy. We have an echo of Oryx's soul as a gun. As long as it perform it's function which is to shoot. It lives on forever. But it needs tribute or you die. We're guardians. Some can heal better than others.
ToM is a Trophy.
So is Doctrine of Passing. Bungie! People are using Doctrine of Passing outside of Trials! Please make it so that the magazine size is reduced proportional to the number of enemies within 50m! /satire Why should ToM be disfunctional outside the raid? No other weapon in the game has that sort of condition placed upon it. And before you say "you can still use it if you want to," consider this. When no one does, are they going to buff it? A lot of exotics just got buffed because no one used them. But Touch of Malice got nerfed, and the point of that nerf was to make sure no one used it. They made a special exception to their standard philosophy just to ensure that people who put time into the raid had nothing of practical value to show for it.
We're guardians. Some can heal better than others.
Defenders can sustain themselves better than most. At least, they can when they aren't singled out for completely arbitrary penalties that contradict the standard rules of the game. Again, this is a special exception to the established mechanics that exists only to ensure that the gun doesn't get used anymore. I'm not asking for anything special. I'm just asking not to be singled out for punative treatment. I just want equal treatment with other exotics, and within the normal game mechanics.

Vex mythoclast was decent in year one and I've been using the necrochasm recently and it's pretty good, and then there's just the touch of malice

How is ToM not worthy?
-
It's pretty much useless other than oryx and daughters in Kings fall

Why is that? What is your reason?
