[quote]John key, the New Zealand prime minister, has defended the country’s high immigration rate, saying that foreign workers were needed because employers found native Kiwis either too lazy or dependent on drugs.
Mr Key admitted that high rates of immigration were straining public services and infrastructure but said his government would adhere to its open-door policy to fill job vacancies.
In his weekly radio appearance, he said of New Zealand workers: “Ask the employers and they will say some of these people won’t pass a drug test, some of these people won’t turn up for work, some of these people will claim they have health issues later on.” His comments came after figures showed that 69,000 migrants arrived in New Zealand in the year to July while 200,000 citizens are jobless.
New Zealand does demand certain skills as an entry requirement for immigrants but the threshold is much lower than under Australia’s regime.
In response to Mr Key, Richard Wagstaff, president of the Council of Trade Unions, said: “Demonising New Zealand workers and not giving them a shot at these jobs is the wrong way to go.”
Andrew Little, Labour Party leader, said: “There are a whole heap of young people who some employers and clearly the government write off as drugged and lazy, as an excuse not to make the extra effort to get them into work.”

Edited by Cameo Cream: 9/7/2016 8:14:26 PMNo. Take it from a resident here. The real issue is the employers. Nobody wants to train you for the job, at all. Doesn't matter if its stacking shelves, sitting behind a counter, or working as a waiter. Employers expect you to have full experience for jobs, so younger people will apply for tonnes upon tonnes of jobs, only to be rejected for lack of experience for easy jobs Its the old job conundrum, how do I get experience, if no employers want to hire and train people. This coupled with NZ immigrating alot of people to hire makes getting jobs as an young NZ'er hard. Took me half a year to get my first job working in retail, half a year... for retail. I went to the best (arguably) school in NZ, but people dont care about education, just experience. After I got the experience getting other jobs was easy. The drug abuse is a small percentage of the population, like many other countries. It took me 2 years and a -blam!-ing good reference from a Cameraman to get where I am today in the media industry.

4.5% unemployment of the total population, 5.4% officially. Some workers are lazy, some have health problems.... I fail to see what the issue is or what isn't normal. I fail to see what this has to do with immigration.

All white countries are being systematically invaded via immigration and justified by BS reasoning. If you cant see this you are blind

So the population is either strung out or living off the government?

Edited by moist nana: 9/7/2016 6:04:59 AMSame problem as anywhere. People naitive or raised comfortably in there own country are less compelled to climb the ranks as an immigrant "seeking there fortune in the new world" would.

Edited by Yarbey: 9/7/2016 8:19:36 AMSo people born and raised in a country suffer from a false sense of entitlement anything else?
