I'm almost exclusively an AR and shotty guy, but am looking to extend my skills to hand cannons and snipers. I'm looking for a variety of methods in which to increase my skill with these, as currently they are quite poor.
Links to helpful videos, your own advice, best weapons and perks, etc. Any and all advice is welcome.
I'm fair in pvp. 1.1 overall kd. Managed 100 rumble wins (with Arminius D). Pvp daily. But it all goes out the window when I try HC's and snipes...

3 RepliesI never snipe if you play 6v6 to be honest. You'll do better with a mida and shotty. I can't understand why players use snipers on 6v6.

Find the hand canon you are comfortable with and spend hours with it, I usually do patrols and PoE.

3 RepliesEdited by What: 9/7/2016 4:49:52 AMFor sniping its important to find the right sensitivity. It makes a huge difference. many people try to snipe on too high of sens. Maybe start at 2 then go to 3 or 4. Anything above thats just too fast Hand cannons just take practice and learning to pace shots correctly Really theres no better advice than just practice. Theres no secret way high level players use them theyve just used them a lot to become good with them

3 RepliesSnipers are really easy, no real tips besides lowering your sensitivity to around 3. The most important thing about hand cannons is getting a good one. If you can get an Eyasluna (or any handcannon in its archetype) with rifled barrel or reinforced barrel, use it. If it doesn't have rifled or reinforced (smallbore is decent too), it isn't worth using. Second most important thing you need to remember is you cannot spam the trigger. Make sure you take your time carefully and consciously placing each shot.

Mayham is a good place to learn using a sniper. Enough ammo and enough chances to practice against supers.

Edited by Darian: 9/7/2016 4:24:03 PMUse TLW and just spam it and you can kill people across the map. Get a longbow with hidden hand and the gun aims itself for you
-
4 RepliesTry practicing with a hand cannon with braced frame first. If you can get one with hidden hand sureshot and braced frame that would be best. If you have one you should try water star to practice. Snipers mainly watch youtubers to learn how to drag scope, set sensitivity to around 3 or 4. No vibration if you can. I have a few more tips if you want ill message you them later.

Is your connection good? Just use tlw and one of the high impact snipers, except Eirene. Is your connection bad? Stick with pulse and shotty. If you like mida you could use that aswell. Then profit.

6 RepliesHand cannons. Don't expect to get into a fire fight and win everytime. Especially if they aren't precision shots. So be realistic. But boy let me tell you....It is highly satisfying landing 2-3 precision headshots and getting the kill. Especially against an AR.
-
1 ReplyTake your time with HCs, don't shoot unless you know you can get a headshot or a rapid followup shot. Stability is useless, Range all day erryday. Learn to snap onto your targets head, it will guarantee you at least 2 headshots. As for snipers? Learn to drag scope, and get used to head level.
-
Everything they said + dedicate lots of time to using both. Don't use them together until you're a little comfortable with them. Go for the head. Every time. Use hip on HC when enemies start to close in. Don't give up. It will start to get frustrating, so take your time with your shots and never rush your bullets out. Unless you use hip.
-
Learn where head level is, and get used to aiming there every time. The less you have to compensate after a scope in, the faster the shot. Above all, don't hammer the trigger. Space your shots, be consistent.

12 RepliesA hidden hand sniper does all the work for you, and I see you have it equipped on your hunter.

Edited by GreenKnight71: 9/7/2016 6:14:44 AMNot much of a sniper but I roll with hand cannons exclusively. Most important thing to me is position. Stay near cover to duck behind after delivering a shot or two. Don't stand there and trade shots with any rifle. Be an opportunist by cleaning up your teammates leftovers. Lastly, you have to hit precision shots to win fights, no spaming. Hand cannons aren't the recommended weapon in PVP but are the most satisfying to use when done correctly. Good luck!

The 1000 yd stare being sold at the tower right now is a good sniper. It has an ambush sight with snapshot for quicker aiming

2 RepliesDon't go to the mob setups. Learn to use highest impact scouts and fusions in combo. This is what I use and never needed anything else since year 2.
-
2 Replieswell i would start with getting an eyasluna, finnalas, lord high fixer or TDYK and then moving on to getting a good ldr, longbow, 1kys, or her fury.

6 RepliesWith handcannons, learn how to use vertical space to your advantage. They are the most accurate weapons when fired in the air, so you should use that to your advantage. You don't want to jump too high though, otherwise you're just making it more difficult for yourself. Watch good players to get used to when you should jump or how to do it. Map awareness is actually very important for sniping. I suggest watching videos of other people sniping as this will give you an idea of where to look. You shouldn't always use traditional sniper lanes since being unpredictable is part of what makes snipers so strong. Practicing drag shots in pve with a low aim assist sniper is actually a fairly effective way of improving your target acquisition as a sniper. Also, I f you ever peek around a corner, never do it slowly. Always go full speed when you strafe. The easiest snipers to kill are often the ones that peek slowly.

2 RepliesWell im not the best pvp player but here's some advices i can give you HAND CANON . 1- don't spam hand canons you're better taking a little bit more time to places your shot and making precision kill than spamming the trigger and only aiming for bodyshot. Plus ghost bullet happens more often when you spam hand canon . 2- practices, i know, it's kind of easy to say but practise will help you learn where to use the weapon at his optimal range and in what kind of situation you should use it. . SNIPER 1-at the start of taken king i had a similar problem with snipers in general,in year one i was only playing with a shotgun so when ttk came out i had difficulties to use sniper like i wasn't able to hit a non moving target without taking like 7 second to place my shot. So the best advice I can give you is to start really slow with snipers and use them in their optimal range and to not try to go with quickscope and close to medium range drag scope until you've gotten pretty good at long range with them. . . 2- film your game so that after you can analyse it and see what you did wrong and what you did good. . 3- go on youtube, there's quite alot of channels that have video of how to snipes well and to get better at sniping. Here's a list of some of my favorite: truvanguard, hush, kruzer, nkuch . 4- watch and learn how your enemi plays. Ex... You were hardscoping a door and you got shot by another sniper in a places that you didn't know you could see the line you were hardscoping. Well next game you go to the exact same spot where the enemi was hardscoping and pick up some kills because the others sniper didn't know about that spot. . 5-don't snipe at the same spot all the game so that the enemi doesn't know from where you will be sniping . . Hope it helps you getting better ~jsv1111
