To be honest; I hate Fallout NV. I like Fallout 4 better than Fallout 3.
Apparently this is an unpopular opinion, which makes me a cis white male scum, according to the public.

Don't care for 3 whatsoever and can't get into NV. I'm with you
To be honest; I hate Fallout NV. I like Fallout 4 better than Fallout 3. There were a couple of things that I didn't really care for, but overall it was a really good game.

I LOVE new Vegas, but I don't like 3 that much, but hey it's your opinion. (A shitty o- wait what?
-
I liked New Vegas because the gunplay wasn't complete garbage like in F3.
-
It's literally the same, except in NV you can actually look into the iron sights
-
You're not alone. I share the same opinion!
-
Yay! You're the first I've met!

I thought I was the only one

Fallout 4 is Definently superior, but new vegas was pretty awesome
-
Superior how? Gunplay? Graphics? That's about it, really. Even then Bethesda's graphics and animations are years behind the standard, and they have little impact on a game compared to player choice, a unique story, and an organic world. Fallout 4 has none of those things. It's just "go here, shoot that" over and over again. Skill checks? Nope. The ability to role play outside of good guy dad? Nope. Faction reputations? Karma? Nope and Nope.
-
Edited by What I Look Like: 8/31/2016 5:20:28 PMFaction rep and karma was underwhelming and not really used for either 3 or NV. At most, in 3 you received dirty water and the occasional stimpack. Besides that, karma only determined whether certain followers could team up with you. And you're basically forced to align with the BoS. Factions in NV? None joinable. And the system was shit.. NV is my favorite Fallout game as well. See.. how can I nuke Legion or NCR after Lonesome Road (DLC) and then simply complete a few quick side missions and be on their good side again? That's stupid. HATE ME. I NUKED IMPORTANT SETTLEMENTS AND ROADS. Both systems were definitely implemented, and not at ALL used effectively.
-
I agree that the system could have been expanded upon considerably, but it worked well enough. As for the nukes, sure, you completely devastated one (or two) factions and important resources to them, but how would they have the slightest idea that it was you? The NCR/Legion aren't composed of omniscient beings. I also am of the mindset that a system in a game with ups and downs is better than it not having that system AT ALL. 4 improved on many things, but gutted mechanics that have been present in Fallout since its creation, instead of simply improving them.
-
Edited by What I Look Like: 8/31/2016 7:03:10 PMI wouldn't say it gutted much. Needs a tone up for dialogue, no voice acting. Let skills affect dialogue options, as in past games. To be honest, they DO know it was you after Nuking them. Either faction immediately is aware of your action after said nuke lol. A real faction system would see harder sneaking and stealing mechanics, joinability, ranks within factions attainable, and missions locked away to those who are not at the top of a factions "most trusted" list. It would see more faction specific weapons.. Armor. I feel like I'm missing on a lot of fixing NV and 3 needed. None of the three games were perfect, and all are missing a few things that easily could've made them perfect. F4 stands out above the rest (not saying it's the best) in that what it did get right is impeccable. You've got a huge step up graphically, NPCs actually show emotion and aren't robotic, and the story is honestly as good and deep as ever. Crafting (bases aside, even) is finally what it should've been from the start. Like I said, F4 is missing things too. The things that it's missing were in previous games for the most part, but that's a good thing. Easier to fix next game around.
-
Wait there's no faction system? I haven't played fallout 4 much, I like the base building ability, Also roleplay? Dafuq you talking about
-
Edited by Rimidalv Nisom: 8/31/2016 5:21:26 PMFallout is a series of role-playing games. Meaning that I can give my character a backstory, a personality, etc. Fallout 4 gives our character a predetermined personality and backstory. In many ways it's similar to Mass Effect but worse.
-
Playing as someone other than the role the game assigns you to with a backstory. A diplomat, a psychopathic killer, a medical expert, etc..... Fallout doesn't give you the game or dialogue opportunities to play different roles like NV did.
-
Edited by What I Look Like: 8/30/2016 4:18:05 PMJust curious, why hate NV?
-
I just do. It's the location and gameplay.
-
For me it goes NV, 4, 3. 3 was.. utter shit. Very revolutionary for its time but then again so was Pong. I don't play Pong anymore.
-
It goes from Good to Bad (in your opinion)?
-
In order of my favorite to least favorite, ya.
-
I can name something from the story aspect, this also goes for three: The factions. It is very clear in both those game which faction is good and which is bad. Fallout 4 at least tried to put some gray over the factions, but it's still very clear that the Railroad is the good guy faction. At least you can side with no one in NV
-
Fallout NV doesn't have morally grey factions? Can you explain?
-
It's very clear which faction is good and bad
