Many of my friends and I believe snipers should be given a de-scope function when being shot in the crucible. Too often am I or other players able to snipe people after being shot in the face numerous times. Sniping should be more challenging.
Edit: I agree with the comments of a few people. There would need to be a damage threshold in order for the de-scope function to proc so that small pve adds and low impact autos from across the map wouldn't de-scope you. Potentially only possible on high impact weapons on head shots cause if you get shot in the face (even with super armor) your not gonna be able to keep your eye on the scope.

Halo did this, and sniper rifles still had a chance. Don't see why it isn't in here.
-
If we get descope we should also get ohk from the chest up and/or more precise hip fire.
-
Sure. But you would have to make snipers a OHK to compensate. Or you could just stay out of sniper lanes.
-
So you're saying, make King's Fall borderline impossible? No thanks.
-
No. It'll hurt PVE. Imagine trying to snipe your ogre or your knight when your on the 4th plate in Oryx challenge while you are taking minor damage from minions below. Sniping isn't a problem in Destiny. People whining about sniping is the issue. I saw a link this guy posted of metadata collected from the crucible and it shows that shotguns are used by far more often than snipers in almost every other PVP mode except trials. I played crucible last night and was able to effectively engage snipers at sniper range with my scout rifle and kill them without trading deaths. It is entirely possible so long as you don't stand still, as people have a tendency to do in Destiny. My SR doesn't even have HCR, so if you have a SR with HCR, this should become EVEN EASIER.

Seriously....? If sniping is THAT much of an issue to you, your friends, and everyone else complaining about them, GO PLAY HALO. Stop trying to ruin this damn game ! It's getting old as fućk ! Stop expecting to win every engagement with just a primary. Secondaries are meant to be stronger than primaries. That's why you spawn with less ammo, and get less ammo for them throughout the match. Hitting headshots while being flinched ISN'T EASY unless you're someone that has been using a sniper for an extended period of time and know when to pull back down and pull the trigger when the reticle is on the head. I'm assuming you're one of those people that get placed on Pantheon and you go up the sniper lane where heavy spawns and just rush right through with a primary and expect not to get sniped. Learn when to back out of an engagement. Learn the maps so you can used flanking to your best ability. I'm telling you right now, you add descope to the game and it will go right back to being NOTHING but shotguns. I can only imagine you're a biased shotgun user. And before anyone tries to claim I'm defending a, "crutch" I have vastly more primary kills than anything else, as well as having almost the same amount of shotgun and sniper kills. I don't just used one second and not the other.

If it does, please keep it PvP only. The impact threshold wouldn't work in PvE because most players are using the sniper rifles for boss DPS. With these bosses doing massive amounts of damage with each shot, the threshold would be reached before the player could fire more than one shot.
-
Descope on headshots. Thats a good idea that ive always liked.
-
On head hits yes...... You can't get slammed in the dome and stayed scoped - Makes no sense
-
Yes with a side of yes.

Core of the issue is this. Flinch moves the same way every time and re-centers in a consistent and timely way. People have gotten used to using a poorly implemented and predictable mechanic instead of actual gun skill. When you are presented with the right opportunity to counter a sniper and are doming them repeatedly they should not be able to get accurate shots off as consistently and easily as they do. The problem is that no sniper will run from that fight because the current flinch makes it a very low risk activity because they know they just have to wait for the flinch to re-center. Allowing sniping to become a low risk high reward activity. Flinch movement needs to be randomized and not re-center. This would mean that actual thumb skill (Something Bungie talk about wanting to promote) is needed to reacquire your target instead of timing a broken mechanic.

I'd have to say no. Mainly because it would be very likely that a core change to how the weapon works would need to be done across all modes, as there likely isn't a way to make them function differently based on game type. It would have to be rewritten. And that can cause crazy unforseen coding issues. This would make snipers virtually useless in pve. A lot of pvp people seem to forget that the game is set up to allow everything to be used everywhere. Thus, you always need to consider how things affect the entire game when suggesting changes to equipment.

I think it should descope if someone is landing headshots with high caliber rounds or explosive rounds
-
You should be taken out of ads when you get shot, that would make it fair. Being able to hard scope while getting shot is a joke. I know a lot of Pvp players don't want this of course, because it would make it fair and make sniping harder. We can't have that can we!!!!
-
It's funny to see the comments and the "no's" on this topic. Snipers have needed this since the beginning so that they wouldn't be abused like they are. Anyone saying no is butthurt over the fact they don't want their cheese weapon normalized.
-
Descope on being shot. Remove lens glare so snipers can actually "hunt" like they should be doing. There, problem solved
imho
-
De-scope no. But it desperately needs a bigger flinch. Shooting somebody three times in the head with my scout while they are scoped and then being domed is ridiculous.
-
Not de-scoped, but much greater flinch while ads definitely
-
You already have to have some skill to kill someone with a sniper tho
-
I think there should be a completely different sniping system. When ADS with a sniper it doesnt even feel like youre sniping. The character/weapon attachment is completely lost and it just feels like youre a floating gun. I absolutely hate this feeling and i dont even snipe any more because of it.
-
Yes. Increase flinch when hit, and complete de-scope when headshot. There could be some threshold damage only above which you de-scope. That would eliminate de-scoping simply because you got headshot by a lucky shot from a sidearm, say.,
-
That's a literally terrible idea. Here I am, lining up a good and proper sniper shot, and I'm hit by a random Auto Rifle round across the map for 2 damage. I descope, have to rezoom, and by that time the target's more than likely gone.
-
If they do this it should affect only pvp
-
At the very least descope on precision hits.
