Separate Playlist for Guardians after Going Flawless

What I am suggesting here is that characters who have gone flawless that weekend would be placed in a separate playlist from the normal trials playlist. This would only be per character per weekend. You can still do the bounties and the daily gold tier bounty just on a flawless playlist. This would still allow for competition against normally flawless players in the normal trials playlist but also allow for new guardians to experience the lighthouse by allowing for further competition against other guardians who haven't reached the lighthouse that weekend. Thoughts? Opinions? Ideas? Suggestions? Edit1: So I may not have made this clear, but what I am suggesting is that all players will play on the same playlist for trials until that character achieves flawless victory. I am simply stating that once that character goes flawless that weekend and they wish to continue playing that they play in a separate flawless playlist. Edit2: Changed the title to better encompass the idea I'm trying to get across. People don't like long pieces of text.

    • I've come to the conclusion that there isn't a way to fix the unevenness of ToO. Whatever they do to try to remedy it, people will find a way around it. If you make it bracketed, it would be all too easy to make a new account, grind up your gear, then just carry people without ever going flawless (or keeping it to a minimum so as to not get put in a higher bracket). The flawless gear wouldn't be a big deal on a secondary account made for carrying anyways. No matter what you suggest to try to remedy it, there will always be elite gatekeepers blocking your path or trying to make you pay a gate toll. I've accepted that there will remain at least 3 locked grimoire cards on my account.

      • No, trials is a test of your skill. Doesn't matter if they've gone flawless or not. As a matter of fact, most dudes that HAVE gone flawless play in like a super leisure way. They even let you just run them through or they just kill themselves. So either way, you will still go up against try hards. All you are doing is limiting the pool of people that can play. Also, if I go flawless tomorrow with my buddy snow and nebula. The next day my buddy slush wants to play, I cant because of this bracket system. Which in turn shows you that your way is flawed. Trials is trials. Deal with it

            • I've never been flawless but I support this idea it would make it so that those who have gone flawless can enjoy a challenging match and those who haven't can have a better chance Idea Simplified( for the dummies ): Adept Trials of Osiris Flawless players vs flawless players makes for more intense games that are actually challenging Trials of Osiris No-Flawless vs No-Flawless makes it so that they don't have to play people who are way above there level but it's still a challenge

              • Can we get a playlist where I can go flawless? Not sure how it would work though. Maybe if it was just me, with everyone else not being able to use their hands to play? Like a 'feet only' playlist? Hmm... Nah I'd still lose. Maybe I can offer a service? Like a reverse carry! Play against me - and you'll go flawless.

              • I dont think that will work but we all know that less and less ppl are in trials The reason?the "free carry" And the worst of all is the account carry. If you give me one account with 0.4 k/d and 700 elo,the game will put me against ppl at the same skill level and i will blam! them up how is this right to the other players?

Bungie would never do this because it makes friends who have gone flawless that weekend not want to play with their friends and help them go flawless(help, not carry.) The aim of this solution is to stop carries but you need to realize that this has other side effects as well. Just like skill based matchmaking, on paper it looks good, any player can jump into crucible and win their games at least half the time. BUT it made getting better at the game pointless and counter productive because there are less players with high skill the higher the skill ladder you go, the less players there are means the more laggy matches and longer search times you'd run into.

                • This way wouldn't really work if you think about it as people could just not buy boons and help "normal" people who have boons then reset there card. Totally negating the flawless playlist

                • It's a good idea, but it wouldn't work very well. Streamers and people who do carries in general would just not purchase the boons and just reset their passage upon completion of the carry or failure of the carry to stay in the lower tier playlist for easier games. You might ask, "What about their lighthouse trip?" Those that do carries all weekend have(I'm just going to assume)have been flawless so many times that they don't need any of the gear going flawless has to offer anymore. If they do however, they can just wait until the last day to do it.

Problem with that is, I like quite a few I know, for the most part are helping out other people go flawless, in which case, boons are rarely bought, and I wouldn't achieve flawless, leaving the possibility to just continue doing the aforementioned Edit: people keep saying to those that rarely or haven't gone flawless "earn it" Earning it, isn't 3 mlg sweaty players stomping on guys with barely positive kds. And I'm sure there are many people here, including myself that have faced a staggering amount of teams that make you think "wtf are these guys doing here?!" Admittedly that's just unfortunate, but there's gotta be someway to make it a challenge for the majority as opposed to just the mlg players stomping all over the majority of people for funsies. It's no wonder the pool seems to be dwindling each and every weekend.

                  • Something needs to change. I gave up trying to go to the light house a while back. I know I will never stand a chance against these elite teams. So yeah I agree. We should be separated into different groups. Rewards stay the same. As far as earning it. Do tier one players earn it playing tier three players. No. Let them earn it playing at their own skill level. So I can play players at my level. They aren't really proving anything. I know there are teams out there that play just to stop other teams. If they made some changes I might would consider playing ToO again. As it is right now its pretty pointless. If they are so elite let them prove it by playing with the elite and going flawless. Now people are charging for lighthouse runs. How far is it going to go Bungie. Anyways hopefully things will change with the new DLC and private match maker.

I played about 17 games on the same card on burning shrine. We went 9/0 without losing we then continued for fun on the same card, we all had done our 3 lighthouse trips. We played players on game 2 on our 11th win in a row (actually played against a friend). We had a routine, a understanding of our strategy and beat them 5/0, they managed 1 kill between them. While it's fun for us I imagine it's not very good for them. Personally I don't mind if the rolls were reversed. Our team can beat the really good teams as much as they beat us so if we lose it doesn't feel like a waste of a card and boons (we tend to grind out them wins when we shouldn't win on paper) we can continue and still have a good chance to get our flawless but for the teams doing bounties or trying for their first flawless it must seem like an impossibility. I don't think it should change though, everyone has had to get through it to grind their first flawless and so should everyone else. It feels like once you win your 5th you then continue to play games on win based match making. Once you get 5 wins you'll be matched with other teams on 5 wins and the teams should be a lot more evenly matched.

                      • So you want a participation medal and everybody make it to Mercury? Let's speculate and say 100,000 people play trials every weekend, people are going to make it guarantee so that number will dwindle down dramtically, so by the end of the weekend only a handful of players will be left who haven't made it so it will be way easier for you to make it?? It is just a speculation but that's what I see happening and would be less rewarding

If trials of Osiris is to be a continual challenge, what does someone like Nkuch get from godsmacking an individual with a 1.1 KDa? Once an individual has gone flawless, they move to a higher tier. Perhaps they're given another piece of loot. Tier one, tier two, and yes, perhaps even tier 3. Tier 3 is the gods against the gods. Streamers on combined teams. Competition so fierce that Sherpa-ing a kindergardian is in no way viable. RealKraftyy vs Teftyteft. Nkuch vs Luckyy. Streamers benefit from this high level of competition on a weekly tournament of that level. At the end of the weekend, Bungie shouts out to the Fourms who the deadliest mofos were, just as they have been doing with Challenge of Elders. Streamers get their carries. Carried individuals get the light house. The challenge still exists for normals and mildly above average pvpers. You don't cut the ladder off, you extend it.
