WAIT!!! DON'T COMMENT YET!
I'm not saying this so we can have more blood.
I'm not saying this so we can have in game sex.
I'm saying this so we can make the enemies as evil as they are in the lore. Example, the Hive lore wise are the most terrifying things ever. The light being ripped like skin from a guardian or being knifed by a weapon made from a ghost is scary as hell AND ALL IN THE GRIMOIRE. But because of the T rating we will never see the Hive as more than "They came from the moon and did all this spooky stuff off game."
The more evil the enemy, the sweeter it is to kill them. Its basic writing really, build up your antagonist instead of just shoving them in your face. The Taken King kinda did this with Oryx in the intro cutscene but have you guys read the book of sorrows? YIKES.

Edit: Okay l hear a lot of people arguing less people would play the game if it was M but do you think Bungie (Made Halo and the angry 12 year old) and Activision (Made COD and perfected the angry 12 year old) care about an M rating?
-
-
And how would Destiny benefit from being a M rated game? If Destiny was rated M, would that make it better game?
-
yes, the best games are M rated for the reasons you stated. It allows them to be much more descriptive and in depth.
-
Agreed, &Lol less people would not play just look at gta
-
I think you not seeing those things is more a symptom of bungie hating cut-scene, having 4 enemy races that it would have to be done for, and setting up every story mission and strike with a voice over during the loading screen. The maturity rating hardly seems to influence that.

Edited by Ghost77: 8/21/2016 12:27:57 PMNo sex, now filthy langauge is ok. Shaxx saying "you -blam!-ing scrub I melee pussy better than that"..
-
I'd say Yeah. It's not like parents parent anymore. Can't count how many parents buy young kids gta. Doesn't get much worse than that.
-
Edited by Raxxyy-: 8/21/2016 6:21:26 PMI don't really know why Destiny is rated T for Teen in the USA, whilst in the UK its rated as 16+ ... should be a universal rating, like T+ for you folks or something xD EDIT: Don't worry... just realised M is 17+, not Adults only haha... but even so, if its rated 16+ in the UK it should really be M for mature in the USA imo
-
No then even more kids would play it
-
I don't know about Destiny 2 but surely this forum should have M rated access.
-
I want them to have the freedom to completely express themselves and the community. This is easier as M than T
-
I don't want them to aim for any rating. I want them to make the game they want to make and have it be rated what it will
-
Seeing some of the darker lore in the game would be really cool. Have like a cinematic of a Fallen Captain pulling a sword out of a guardian or something. That was always one of the things that made the Halo games so great! They included a lot of the backstory throughout the campaign using cinematics. For all those little kids thinking we say make it rated M just to get rid of squeakers. They're wrong!!(although it would be nice to get rid of some squeakers). Rated M games usually become more interesting stories with more intriguing graphics. Besides Rated M never stopped kids from playing Halo anyways. These days, the Rating never actually has any affect on whether squeakers will play it or not
-
No, leave as it is. Destiny has a rare balance of action, kills, and lightweight feeling I'd let my kids play without worrying of raising a serial killer. It's just too easy to make things explicit and ruin the Space Magic.
-
Yes, itd be more realistic
-
Why do people want this? Blood, guts and boobs aren't going to make this game any better. Destiny can still tackle mature/ dark themes without pushing for a M rating.
-
-
Hmmm yeah i guess more possibilities are always welcome
-
I wish it were a bit darker and had some blood in it. I don't want to see any cheesy romance in the game at all, ever. But when I get a headshot in pvp, I'd like to see the head blow off with a blood trail. Kind of like when you have firefly on, but blood. yea, give me blood.
-
A T rating can get away with a lot
-
I want to be actually terrified of the hive, they could turn the dreadnaught into Silent hills.
-
I don't think it needs to be "M" they just need to show more of the lore. More cut scenes would illustrate everything you wanna see out of the game.
-
I like the idea of gruesome space magic. I like the idea of being eaten by thrall if killed, just because it would feel like the Hive are actually evil. I would love to see a moon explode because of Cabal. I would love to see a Kell's skull crushed by a Titan. I would love to see swords tear off limbs or cut my foes in two. Why? Because it would feel so much better to play. I'd feel so much more immersed.
-
If it warrants it, but just making a game m for the same of m ruins it.
-
Edited by Blurry Phlip: 8/21/2016 4:46:18 PMI feel like they might make it M, because in the trailers before destiny was released and rated, it would say that it is "anticipated to be rated M" in the trailer itself
-
Nah, you can still get away with the enemies being extremely evil and keep the game T. Ever play the infamous games? In the first one there's suicide bombers that try to kill you, that game's still T
