Should Destiny 2 be M rated?

WAIT!!! DON'T COMMENT YET! I'm not saying this so we can have more blood. I'm not saying this so we can have in game sex. I'm saying this so we can make the enemies as evil as they are in the lore. Example, the Hive lore wise are the most terrifying things ever. The light being ripped like skin from a guardian or being knifed by a weapon made from a ghost is scary as hell AND ALL IN THE GRIMOIRE. But because of the T rating we will never see the Hive as more than "They came from the moon and did all this spooky stuff off game." The more evil the enemy, the sweeter it is to kill them. Its basic writing really, build up your antagonist instead of just shoving them in your face. The Taken King kinda did this with Oryx in the intro cutscene but have you guys read the book of sorrows? YIKES. Please comment your thoughts below. Edit: Okay l hear a lot of people arguing less people would play the game if it was M but do you think Bungie (Made Halo and the angry 12 year old) and Activision (Made COD and perfected the angry 12 year old) care about an M rating?

  • It doesn't matter really, it's pixelated gore in a game that focuses on hunting and collecting. The key point in the game, as in the thing that makes us coming back, is in fact the loot. I wouldn't think it sweeter because the enemies are more evil and less humane to my chars when killing them. Honestly I haven't played a game since final fantasy 9 where I thought: YEAH you little -blam!-er, you didn't see that coming now did you!!!(it's just a personal reference don't read into much to it) Destiny first of need more ingame scenes and cutscenes to build it up rather than constant hive chewing away our skin. It will add nothing more than hate from the underaged ppl who want to play. I see your point in it being brought up to it's legacy in the out-game library we call grimoire cards. But seriously, this isn't top priority as we still have a out-game library. I said it before and I'll say it again. Destiny is like a NES game, the story was written down in the booklets and then we were sent of and had to imagine the plot ourselves:-)

  • Err,this thing again. Honestly M ratings are very overrated. Besides, T forces people to get creative with the mass death other then adding multiple colors of blood. Bodies fall over, heads go pop, some go up and flames, darkness basically get blasted out of living. "he light being ripped like skin from a guardian or being knifed by a weapon made from a ghost is scary as hell " Ah, ok nevermind. Just more dumb edgy crap. Which is really all it comes down to anymore. Also, If you did not get why Atheion is scary. You clearly lack a imagination of what he does to do. He more or less kills you by causes a time paradox and sends you thou time so,It would be like the raid never happened. Or leaves you there like he did Pathyon but people can still find you via ghost but they only find your reminds. And Crota,Deathsingers, they are litterly singing a death ballad to kill you. Crota pulls a freaking dying sun out of his realm and blows It up on top of your head and the only way to kill him and using his own kinds weapons. And don't even get me started about the space herpes and taking over the Prison of elders. And Even then half the thing you say, like seeing damage via light (like having a soul suck or having light sparks show when you take damage) and broken ghost as trophies are doable with a T ratting, It does not have blood, gore, sex or cursing involved. The issue seems no one knows how the ESRB works. And jsut want a M ratting for the sake of a M rating because i guess in their minds It makes the game "Mature" somehow,

    • It's a good point but in destiny we don't get a chance to have the hive strip away our light like flesh also a lot of people that love to play destiny may not be allowed to play m games. Bungie will make more money if destiny 2 is t rated.

      • Yes it should be rated M for mature, more gore would be fantastic. But it wont stop stupid parents from buying the game regardless of the high rating for their children.

        • I thought this game was going to be next-gen only and rated M. Destiny 2 should fix that.

I don't think of M rated when I think if destiny.

          • yes. a game being m rated gives it more creative freedom and in destinys case the story AND gameplay would be alot better and refined.

It would also allow some moral ambiguity. Because I believe an M rating is required to "Humanize" the enemy. (Correct me if I am wrong) And it would allow us to see the fallen as ourselves ripped from a golden age. The only truly "Dark" faction is the Hive/Taken, and it is their worm that drives the Hive. The vex are trying to create their pattern for the Universe. The Cabal are running but have to attack us to be able to "Advance in the other direction". And the fallen are scavengers trying to survive. Bungie has a history of telling stories like this: •Kill the enemy because they are evil! Examples: Halo CE, Destiny •Begin to give human like qualities to enemies: Examples: Halo 2 (Elites), Books of Sorrow (Hive) So there is a possibility.

                  • They'll keep it rated low enough for the Disney crowd to be able to spend their parents' money on D2 and all of the add-ons.

                      • While I agree, Destiny is arguably the best FPS this gen, it is also kinda lame from a story tellers perspective. It's too watered down and tame. With a M rating at least you'd have more room to accurately, or maybe more appropriately display the races as their lore suggests. All in all, an M rating would make Destiny a better PvE game/story.
