WAIT!!! DON'T COMMENT YET!
I'm not saying this so we can have more blood.
I'm not saying this so we can have in game sex.
I'm saying this so we can make the enemies as evil as they are in the lore. Example, the Hive lore wise are the most terrifying things ever. The light being ripped like skin from a guardian or being knifed by a weapon made from a ghost is scary as hell AND ALL IN THE GRIMOIRE. But because of the T rating we will never see the Hive as more than "They came from the moon and did all this spooky stuff off game."
The more evil the enemy, the sweeter it is to kill them. Its basic writing really, build up your antagonist instead of just shoving them in your face. The Taken King kinda did this with Oryx in the intro cutscene but have you guys read the book of sorrows? YIKES.

Edit: Okay l hear a lot of people arguing less people would play the game if it was M but do you think Bungie (Made Halo and the angry 12 year old) and Activision (Made COD and perfected the angry 12 year old) care about an M rating?
-
I completely agree with your reasoning.
-
I'm for it. (Although I want more violence, than sex) I really doubt having the game be rated M would affect sales, considering a lot of parents out there that allow their kids buy/play rated M games like COD or GTA
-
I would like to have a spin off game like a one where you play as cayde or a Osiris game to be rated m, but I would like all the main games to stick with t
-
I want it M rated to here Cayde cussing...
-
I want to turn other guardians into giblets when I kill them with a shotty or rocket launcher. -blam!- all the other stuff
-
I agree. I want tits and mortal kombat kind of violence. And whoever said destiny would lose customers over being ranted M is full of baloney. Black ops 3 is filled with 9 year olds. that's like 80% of the fan base.
-
Short answer, no. It wouldn't add anything worth adding. The irony of "M" ratings is that people who are actually mature are, mostly, not drawn by the things that lead to that rating. People are people so it does happen. But very rarely will you find a 50 year old who thinks "man I hope they use the F word" or "I sure hope there are some sex scenes with full frontal nudity" or "I want to see the villain pull out a knife and cut off someone's face and use it as a bloody mask". That whole realm of stuff is much more exciting to teenagers and maybe people in their 20s. As for "dark storylines," you can have a very dark storylines with a T rating or even an E rating, if it is conceptual vs gory. You can have a storyline so complex a PhD would need to go through it several times to understand and so dark an optimist would be depressed by it with no vulgar language, no sex, no nudity and no gore. That is a rare choice in gaming because complex and dark stories don't appeal to many kids, but the rating isn't what prevents it.

Dude, Bungie wouldn't make as much money...
-
U can still make a great game and not make it m.they would loose alot of customers. Destiny will be fine with whatever they cook up. Im sure destiny two will be an epic game

Edited by chickengoujohn93: 8/21/2016 9:02:16 PMHigher maturity rating, more kids playing it. Just look at GTA and Call of Duty. The kids who own these games are those "cool" kids in school. Game is fine the way it is.
-
Edited by FrenetiCreature: 8/21/2016 2:49:00 PMNo! My mom won't let me play "M rated" games. Even though I'm 32 years old, she says that I'm still not mature enough to handle it. Edit: Because last time I did, I uppercut punched my sister in the chin to see if her head would come off, and to see if the voice in my head would say, "Flawless Victory".
-
Why not, It wouldn't lose any players, cause parents don't parent anymore. Anyone that lets their young kids play COD, GTA, Halo or even Destiny should have their kids taken away from them, they are horrible parents and don't deserve kids.
-
No, what's the point of more blood, it's not like adding more blood will add more to the story Oh wait, what story?
-
Yes and make your guardian have to have sex with the queen and Petra as a three way :)
-
Yeah, i actually just want to see eris naked.....
-
You stupid douchebags will argue about anything.
-
But I want blood.... And in game sex.....
Not really But Mara Sov is kinda hawt
-
Hell yes, the things that we could experience with no limits on content... makes me a lil giddy thinking about it.
WAIT!!! DON'T COMMENT YET! I'm not saying this so we can have more blood.
Sounds to me like you do want more blood and violence. Also while we're on the topic of writing basics, having a person show up on screen and kill people at random doesn't make them feel any more evil. It kinda just makes them a cliche "Oh look, I killed this puppy! Oh look I killed this old man! Aren't I evil?" type who we kill and then forget. If you want to make Destiny better you have to start off at the base and work up. You have to make us feel for a character so we hurt when they die and killing the killer feels cathartic. A villain in a game could kill a dozen strangers and I wouldn't feel anything when I killed him. But when he kills a friend who I have grown to care for then the magic starts. Point being, slapping on some extra violence won't fix Destiny or make Destiny 2 better. Giving us characters we care about will. -
DESTINY!!! Take advice from DOOM
-
Yeah but why? More gore effects don't really need to be in Destiny and they don't really add anything either...

Edited by xGhost 0f War: 8/21/2016 8:46:34 PMDo you realise that the violence in gamez/movies/tv etc actually has a numbing effect on society, especially considering the realism of todays technology. People get so used to seeing blood & guts in virtual worlds that it loses its power to shock in the real world. Its nice to play a game thats fun without seeing arms/legs/heads flying everywhere. Leave the game as it is. Edit : ppl seem to be confused by this post insinuating that it says it encourages violent behaviour... i never said that. My point is the desensitizing/numbing effect it has on society. In simplest terms it means that when violence is used it is more violent in nature.
-
Hell yeh, this game clearly shows how easy it is to get shot through walls when you think you are safe and sound.
All the kids are trembling in their beds...
-
Yeah, I think it'd be cool if Destiny 2 has better graphics, and way scarier enemies.
-
It could be a bit more borderlands-like. Aside from Moxxi, that is.
