WAIT!!! DON'T COMMENT YET!
I'm not saying this so we can have more blood.
I'm not saying this so we can have in game sex.
I'm saying this so we can make the enemies as evil as they are in the lore. Example, the Hive lore wise are the most terrifying things ever. The light being ripped like skin from a guardian or being knifed by a weapon made from a ghost is scary as hell AND ALL IN THE GRIMOIRE. But because of the T rating we will never see the Hive as more than "They came from the moon and did all this spooky stuff off game."
The more evil the enemy, the sweeter it is to kill them. Its basic writing really, build up your antagonist instead of just shoving them in your face. The Taken King kinda did this with Oryx in the intro cutscene but have you guys read the book of sorrows? YIKES.
Please comment your thoughts below.
Edit: Okay l hear a lot of people arguing less people would play the game if it was M but do you think Bungie (Made Halo and the angry 12 year old) and Activision (Made COD and perfected the angry 12 year old) care about an M rating?
-
I agree I think the game should follow the lore and legends portrayed. Good point!
-
For anyone thinking Destiny was changed in any way because of the T rating, you have to understand that the game is created AND THEN rated. Unless it was specifically modified in-studio to make it more child friendly the game is how it was created.

After you have played a gears of war game, anything less than blowing your enemy into a pile of chunks is considered disney to me. If it is "mature" it needs to be more graphic sexually than a bioware game or at least on par with a one shot kill from a gnasher shotgun in gears of war. There isn't anything in destiny that comes close. I will acknowledge that the game does no justice to the stories told in the grimoire cards and the books of sorrow. If we were allowed to see those events in the way they are described then I would say that destiny should absolutely be mature.

Oh yes
-
They wouldn't do that. Destiny was originally M, but with the delay after 2013, they took a lot of stuff out and made it Teen so that more people would play. You may say but 5 year Olds play CoD and that's M rated, well they took out things like trading because younger kids would get taken advantage of like that kid who had his fusion rifle deleted by Kermit. While bungie doesn't like to bring it up, yes there was trading, in a developer gameplay vid, they were talking about a hunters cloak and they said, she could've won it, gambled for it, traded for it, or found it in the wild.
-
They won't make it M because that alienates people under 17 and will effect profits.
-
I'd like there to be more mature themes, like drinking. On a rare Titan mark the text said something like, "The Bolstering Brew, named after the Titans favourite bar." Why is this not a place I can go? BUNGO PLZ!!!
-
Yes. I would like to see some gore added to the game. Enemies should explode into bits like in Doom.
-
I dont think it should be specifically designed for a rating, I think it should just be designed And the rating decided after
-
Yeah, just imagining the light getting ripped from a guardian makes me hype for what this game could've been or could still be... P.S If you haven't read the grimoire I highly recommend it :)
-
It would be amazing
-
I'd love to see it be rated M and become as gory as doom
-
It should have DEDICATED SERVERS.
-
Yes, this way Shaxx can cuss when you nova bomb the heavy pickup and kill an entire fire team. I can hear it now, "this is f'n amazing"
-
-
The dialogue could also be improved if certain language was allowed in the game
-
I like the idea due to the simple fact it would allow both writers and enemy/level designers more creative freedom. Just because a game has an M-Rating, that doesn't mean it has to revolve around gore and cringe inducing sex scenes. Unfortunately, "the suits" will always believe that the more viewer friendly the rating (be it games or movies), the more money they'll make. They really are stuck in their ways...
-
I actually wouldn't mind in-game sex... But I guess the rest works too.

#MakeDestinyBecomeGTA_M-Rated LOL
Destiny 2=GTA
M rating doesn't equal successful or better. I dont see how showing graphically how abhorrent the. Hive (for example) are makes it improved or better graphics for corpses. Is anyone going to br staring at them mid-battle? They explode into ashes upon death. The story itself (within the lore) is pretty grim and beyond actually playing through the Fall how would you suggest changing the tone.
-
This post was lowkey made for making Mara sov sexier and we all know it
-
NO! Even though I'm fifteen, I prefer the cleaner destiny.
-
I too think that Destiny 2 should be M rated, it would allow the devs to set a much darker tone to Destiny, which I personally think it needs. It worked with the Arkham games, Asylum and City were rated T and were pretty dark, but Arkham Knight took it a step further and made the story much darker than the other two...which worked. Blood and gore could help Destiny, but it's not needed, it just needs a much darker tone than it has now, which if it's done right could allow the story to have more depth as well.

There are folks out there who have kids and even though their kids don't play the game, they don't want their kid to be exposed so early to realistic gun violence, this is sci Fi gun violence with knock downs and busted machinery, a far cry from blood everywhere. Destiny 2 drops with a higher rating and they can't play anymore. All that farming for naught. I also love hearing about all those dad and son fire teams - you can't have those with a more gruesome game. Now, an option to turn such a thing on or off, maybe. But kids can figure that out easily, right? And then tell all their friends.

If pixar, disney, and the networks get away with gore, horror and innuendo i dont see why video games should suffer. If they still want the kindergaurdians to play they could release a pg version
