Does anybody have any hand cannon tips? I'm trying to get into using them and I'm just not that good with them at the moment.

13 RepliesThey're all about accuracy, just practice with them, you'll learn the ins and outs of them pretty fast, the range limitations and such, work on picking your engagements and hitting consistent headshots.

Pace. Your. Shots.

I used to do a lot of quick scoping/drag scoping in cod.(til it turned into the shit it is-roll on mw remastered) I land most of my shots "drag scoping" with a hand cannon as the target is always moving. It takes practice but is very effective.
-
If you use the mid tier archetype you only need to land 1 headshot and 2 body shots. So if you land a headshot first you can fire I faster than you normally would have to
-
Yr one: point and shoot. Year two: shoot as fast as you want in close range but now you have to slow your rate of fire for consistent hits even at mid range.

Get one with as many range boosting perks as you can. Handcannons have something call "bloom" now that affects the range and accuracy of the effective range. This sometimes causes phantom bullets that do no damage. The only real way to alleviate this it to get a handcannon with range perk i.e. Rangefinder, Hammerforged, reinforced barrel or rifled barrel. Rifled barrel is probably the ideal perk for the middle tree.

There is no secret just practice and practice and... you get the point.

5 RepliesOkay, first, don't aim down the sights unless they're far away. This is a personal thing that I did because I was able to get headshots without aiming down the sights of a hand cannon. Second: always have a REALLY good secondary weapon because hand cannons don't have that much ammo in them and if you're under fire it's best to switch to secondary so you can take them out. Third: hand cannons aren't meant for hardcore PvP because they don't have the best rate of fire and don't have a lot of ammo. If you're on a map or game mode where the people on the opposite team tend to stay in groups, use a different primary weapon. I haven't played the game in ages but that's how I always did it.

1. Use Handcannon with a Mid Impact stat like my Finnala's Peril. Only need one headshot and two body shots. Your Kumakatok needs two headshot and a bodyshot. 2. Upgrade the rangestat as much as you can. It makes Handcannons way more accurate at longer ranges. 3. Take time with shots. Spamming the Trigger only makes handcannons more inaccurate.

Take your time and get to know the weapon type you're dealing with. You'll get a feel for which distance they're most effective from and which distance they're not. In that time you'll get to know the recoil pattern which will help with shot pacing and precision hits. Pacing shots is probably the biggest piece of advice anyone can give you. Spamming the trigger can result in ghost bullets, take your time and make every shot count. Try and get as much range as possible from your hand cannon of choice. This will help with the overall accuracy of your shots. So look for rangefinder and/or rifled barrel. They certainly help make the most out of your gun. The two strongest sights (in my opinion) are Sureshot and Truesight as I feel they give the best options for target acquisition. I hope some of this helps. Good luck out there guardian!

Aim for the head

Time your shots and don't spam the trigger. Seems to lessen the "ghost bullets". Let the barrel of the gun come back down to almost flat before firing again.

Pace your shots and always remember to max range.

Practice. Pacing your shots are key with follow up shots.
