If the game is installed on a USB stick, would it not be able to cache on the HDD and thus resolve the original problem?
For those who do not know what I am talking about, we were advised against installing Halo 3 on the HDD, because Halo 3 was already optimized to use the HDD to load maps. Due to the fact the HDD cannot read and write at the same time, it caused map load times to increase.
But now since we have a second source where the game will be installed, wouldn't the game (Halo 3) still be able to use the HDD to cache maps and thus limit the heat and noise of the 360. Any input would be great.

I timed this last night as well, I got more or less the same times. I used (and now still using): Integral - Courier - USB flash drive - 16 GB - Hi-Speed USB
Posted by: Atrack28 Great news, we can finally enjoy Halo 3 without the noise and heat created from a spinning disc.
I only installed the game to the USB by the way. I kept all my game files on the HDD. And if you do switch to USB, be sure to clear your HDD cache before you play Halo as it may load slower if you don't.

hehehe i always wanted to have halo 3 on my iPod Touch, now I can ;) in theory it should run faster....
Posted by: Atrack28 I was thinking about purchasing the exact same USB Flash drive, do you recommend it? Also, have you played any matchmaking? Is everything smooth like butter?
Everything is smooth like butter. However I thought it would load up a bit faster. But still, it's the fastest loading speed I've seen yet for H3. Some guy on the MLG forums posted this
Hard drive: Construct - 23.0 seconds Rat's Nest - 28.1 seconds Ghost Town - 28.1 seconds Sandbox - 23.2 seconds Heretic - 21.1 seconds Disc: Construct - 21.2 seconds Rat's Nest - 25.1 seconds Ghost Town - 26.4 seconds Sandbox - 22.3 seconds Heretic - 20.1 seconds USB flash drive (Kingston DataTraveler 16GB): Construct - 19.0 seconds Rat's Nest - 24.0 seconds Ghost Town - 24.2 seconds Sandbox - 20.2 seconds Heretic - 18.1 seconds
I did my research and found out that the Patriot USB flash drive that I have is faster. However, strangely enough, when I loaded Heretic... I too got 18.1 seconds. Also with the other maps... I'm getting pretty much the exact same results when compared to the Kingston DataTraveler. Maybe there's some sort of limit? I'm not 100% sure. But yeah, I'd definitely recommend it. It usually sells for like 20 bucks, so why not? [Edited on 04.09.2010 6:47 PM PDT]

It's pretty sweet... everyone should consider it. Just be sure to get a reliable USB drive with a fast read speed.
I was thinking about purchasing the exact same USB Flash drive, do you recommend it? Also, have you played any matchmaking? I'm wanting to know this as well. Someone else is discussing this as well: http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=42730726 [Edited on 04.09.2010 3:00 PM PDT]
