As the text at the end of the Crota son of Oryx grimoire card points out there may be other Hive netherworlds within the Vex gate system ruled by Crota like entities. I believe this is where Nokris lies.

Thats an interesting point to raise, and very possible. This doesnt entirely answer the question of the lack of information about Nokris

Well this is kind of a cop-out but the lack of information could very well be tied up in dlc. Especially now since bungie knows all the chatter and speculation about the subject.

There has to be a just explanation for why he was omitted from his father's own biography.

My other theory is that when oryx created Crota he had split a maggot in half and one end grew into Crota so the other half could be Nokris and maybe it didn't survive it.

I don't know where Nokris falls in the lineage of if the hive, or at what time he was relevant. There simply isn't enough information about him, but I would like to draw a few conclusions.
Firstly, crota controlled the hive from deep within the moon. We had to take the plunge into the abyss to find him, drag him out to fight. When we finally met him, he was an ethereal being that could only be killed by the swords forged to protect him. When we finally kill him, his last gurgling breath is a call that resonates amongst the stars and sure enough that call was to oryx
The next thing we know, oryx answers the call of his spawn/son/commander of the front line assault on the light/traveler.
I personally like to believe that oryx came to reclaim crotas soul, preserve it in the crystal which we stole to become ascendant hive. We had to gain access to rupture which brought us the an ascended realm to fight different shadows of oryx. Is it possible that since oryx has the ability to bolster his ranks, the vex knew (since aetheon is omniscient) and they retreated to their sanctuary, the black garden? A dimension that oryx couldn't get to?
This leads me to my next conclusion and theory about oryx's true powers
It seems that oryx is able to freely traverse dimensions, not dissimilar to the way the vex are able to. When we defeated oryx, in the story, where did he go? He stuck his sword into the pool of darkness, and got sucked into a wormhole to escape to another dimension with the last of his strength. He laughs as he gets away, as if to say, "you're really f-ed now buddy" and disappears.
So we don't know where oryx went, who he went to see for aid and when/if he might return. But know that if he is to return, it will be with greater numbers since there will be more enemies to control later on, and he might come back at the side his master and as a servant to, Nokris.
It's my belief that crota and oryx were merely generals, commanding different armies in the name of Nokris. It is just coincidence that oryx and crota were related, and their sole purpose was to leave the traveler defenseless so their master might come and destroy/corrupt the traveler himself. Thereby they could control the shards of the traveler (ghosts) and ultimately control/eradicate all of the guardians that rely on ghosts to keep them in the fight. So far it seems that the traveler/ghosts are the only entities that have the ability to transmute matter into a prerecorded image of what is imprinted on said ghosts.
Bear in mind that I haven't sifted through enough of the cards to confirm any of this. Also, since we have such little information Nokris it seems safe to assume that he/she/it could be the antithesis of the traveler. Not a king or general, but an inter dimensional god if you will. It's implied that Nokris is older than our universe, commanding forces in our dimension to seize control of a weapon unlike anything they had ever seen, the traveler. If the traveler has the ability to change the climate on Mars (opening sequence of the game) then maybe they need the traveler to restore the home or power that Nokris once controlled.
