Now that Bungie no longer holds the rights to Halo, and Destiny only has a ten year plan. Should Bungie return to the Marathon series in the future? Either to remaster the originals or to create an entirely new game based in the same universe as a way of reviving the series.

I honestly believe that Marathon could be remade very well by Bungie, as long as they keep Activision and others out of their kitchen. So many things have happened since Marathon was first released. New gaming engines, better graphical capabilities, realistic voice acting, and many others. Marathon was the first game I played that allowed me to realise that not only could a game have a deep, meaningful storyline, but that game Crafters are capable of creating complex universes with amazing back-stories. ( In Marathon, there are many hidden terminals that provide depth not directly related to what the character is going through) I would love to see this remade with voice acting, new controls, new weapons(but bring back the SPNKR) and possibly an open-world feel. Nostalgia had its place, and some, I repeat, SOME of the gamers who played Marathon back in the day would complain. That said, people are going to complain anyway, because: That is what trolls do! Anyway, there is a new generation of gamers or there who have never even heard of Atari or Vectrex or even know that Sega user to build consoles. Marathon's story deserves to be retold to them, in a manner that they can accept.

They become a legendary company after making Halo. Then they tear that status right down with Destiny. One can only imagine what they have in store after Destiny is over with.

Given what they've been doing since signing with Activision, I'd rather they avoid that franchise with a 10 foot pole until their contract expires. Let them be spat out battered and bruised after Activision is done wringing them dry, then use Marathon as a springboard into hopefully an era where they put some semblance of effort into their games.

Nah. Let good things that have ended stay ended. More often than not, when people try to revive old things to capitalize on that previous popularity, it goes horribly awry.

No. Not even going to consider it,
-
People actually played that?
-
Nope, like others have said, let good games lie in the past and not ruin their memory
-
Yes, yes; a thousand times yes. Just remake the current series of games as current generation games. I'd kill for that.

33% all the way around

If it's to be published by Activision, then absolutely not. I'd be ok with another Marathon after they're contract is up with them.

Do you want them to mess up another game?
