I find it interesting how out of the enemies we fight (Fallen, Cabal, Hive, Vex) Only two, the Hive and Vex, have been confirmed to worship/draw power from the deep/darkness but the speaker still groups all of them together as "minions of the darkness". This, like many things, makes me wonder about the Speaker's motive. I find this especially interesting since we know the Fallen don't want to destroy the Traveler and were even once blessed by its light. As for the Cabal we don't know what they would do with it. The Fallen came for the Traveler yes but it's because before the Traveler came to our system it the visited the Fallen (originally called the Eliksni) but the Traveler ran after Oryx and the darkness came to destroy the Fallen and take the Traveler's light. The Fallen followed the Traveler to our system hoping to reclaim its light and use that light to retake their home world. We don't know that much about the Cabal and their goals on Mars or why they came to our system in the first place. My thoughts are that the Cabal want Earth as well as Mars and that they are after control of the Mars warmind Charlemagne and use him/it* to combat Rasputin who would potentially seeing the power of the Cabal empire use his arsenal of weapons of mass destruction from taking Earth as there own. No matter whether or not my speculation on the intent of the Cabal is anywhere close to what Bungie intends to do with the Cabal their bases on Mars show that they are there to stay and aren't going anywhere without a little encouragement from the guardians. I find it interesting how the speaker doesn't distinguish between the true minions of darkness (Hive, Vex) and the other two (Cabal, Fallen). What do you think, feel free to put any of your opinions and theories down in the comments but please try to stay on topic of what I talked about here. *We aren't sure if Charlemagne is a true AI like Rasputin as they could have been developed by different group meaning that their software/mind could differ fundamentally in its construction.

  • I think the Traveller and it's Speaker are actually bad guys. Us Guardians happily reanimate and kill without question just because we're told to. It's all highly suspicious :P just because we fight for the Light against the Darkness doesn't mean we're the good guys. What if Light and the Traveller are actually evil?

    • Yes and No. (Let us throw away the knowledge we have from leaked past info *IE.Evil Traveler*) We are bound by a kind of odd law here. To stop the darkness is the save humanity, but to stop It we need the Guardians which only the traveler can make. The Fallen, want their old god back "the Traveler" The Cabal are running from something. We are not sure what, but they are running. The Hive seem the actually be the closest to the darkness, and as we seen of the taken. That is clearly some stuff they could mess us up. This is kind of a weird symbiotic relationship. The Travel keeps the taken and crap out by supplying the guardians. In,turn Humanity keep the Traveler safe. It is a dead god, even the Speaker says so. But, It still has enough of a mind to "dream" us into being. But, the bigger issues I have is this, When the cabal slammed into the Dreadnaught. Why not help them? The hive and the Taken are clearly a bigger threat. I get they where try and nuke a battleship. But, to be fair inturn, they would of gravely crippled the Hive and taken. And yes, earth would of went boom. Actually, how would the earth go boom? My main issues is this. Why do I get the feeling the vanguard are more obvious about there flaws in the speaker. Like,he is kind of in season 2 just chilling, season 1 he was much more active. Something is a miss here.

    • I've always wondered about the speaker Because he reminds me of the bad guy from SOCOM 4( if u know what I mean) It would make for a good plot though if he went rogue

So all the people saying the Traveler was going to leave us, it wasn't. The Dreams of Alpha Lupi illustrate that pretty clearly. The reason all enemies get group as "minions of the Darkness" is because whether or not they willingly embrace the Darkness and it's philosophy they aid it by very nature of being opposed to us. We defend the Traveler. The Traveler is the only entity with any chance of stopping the Darkness. The Darkness demands the extinction of all life. Fighting us means opposing the Traveler means aiding the Darkness. Simple as that.

Well, the way I see it, the Cabal are to Charlemagne as Fallen are to Rasputin. Both want control of these Warminds(Even though RSPN is controlling CHLM) and if either got full control of a Warmind, that could be the end of the city. It's not known if SIVA is some sort of Warmind or Warmind-controlled technology, but now the Fallen have and utilize it. They are a much greater threat now. That's why the Speaker treats them like something as dangerous as the Hive or the Vex.

        • Have you ever heard of Game Theory? Go on YouTube and look up game theory destiny and the title is something like Destiny's lost story or plot or something. Should be the first result. It is really cool.
