Level 40 doesn't tell me anything about a player. They could be light 200 or 335. Why not display their light level by their name in game?

No no. Light level shows nothing and so does XP level how about grimore replacing light level next to a persons name
-
-
Or display their age,so I can avoid them

I like y2 light level better, but I like in y1 how any legendary could max you out better than how y2 does it. All you need is the resources to upgrade them and BAM maxed out. Yes it seems a little easy to be maxed but I liked it better than y2.

I would like a little contact card when you click right thumbstick on someone in game. Level Light Class / subclass Grimoire Fireteam members Status (eg, "looking for party to farm salvage" Wouldn't clutter up the screen unless you actively inspected someone, but wouldn't require you to go all the way into their inventory screen to check them out.

I feel this would work better with PvE enemies.... Just sayin...
-
Also grimoire, just like year 1

Light level shows just as little. For example, if i put my VoG cloak on in regular crucible instead of my IB cloak, i go from 329 to about 317. What does that tell you? Not much.

I rather have a quote written by the player under their name Moxxis Playtoy "Been here sense Year one and still couldn't find the secret exits Handsome Jack told me about"
-
It's really not that complicated to go to the roster and look. Just saying...

The trouble with light level is that it's variable. It's not a definite measure. I mean, be silly, and assume a Character has 3 335 guns of each type (Prim, Sec, Hvy) and all the others are a lot less. So, he equips these three and he's a 333. (Say) All launch into a strike or something, and thse three weapons of his are useless for this particular job. No worries, he equips three others, and all of a sudden he's a 280! I don't know how many out there approach this simple scenario, but I myself, can only equip to 333 with a minimum of a selection. Before 330, you could grind and sometimes sucker factions and the thieving Rahool into giving you something at 330. Keep or infuse. Above 330, that does not happen! Well, I haven't seen it anyway. To get above 330, you have to play IB, CoO (When the lights are on) Poe , Coe, and the Raid. Plenty of opportunities I suppose, but not for a lone player. Sorry, got carried away there. My point is that the level is not a measure of the character's ability, or progression. It's a measurement of the gear he has equipped at the time! I appreciate your concern though.

Light level doesn't tell you anything about the player. Why would it be significant in any way? If you're in a fireteam, you'll know their Light level prior to launching. If you see them in the Crucible, Light doesn't matter. If you see them in the wild, Light still doesn't matter. What real benefit does this give you? Sounds pointless, in all honesty.
-
The base level tells you they have played the game. Light level tells you they play enough to keep up. But does it really help you? People have started characters over and some sharded the possessions
-
it's beyond obvious that it should be 1-39 then switch to light at lv40 and for some reason they won't do it
-
I preferred when grimoire score was displayed.
-
Because without even looking at someone gear or grimoire; they would be immediately discredited because they are 334 and this scrub required 335 for a raid that's doable at 311 0________0
-
Old light system was better. Year 1 headless content than year 2 no doubt. But why did I enjoy it a lot? It was more fun and simple than now.
-
Just get rid of XP. It is a useless number that better be served by being replaced by LL.
-
Or put in a display option to toggle that.
-
Grimoire would be better. 4800 club
-
Nah we need Grimoire score back. I care about game experience and dedication rather than light level.

Edited by Anedime: 7/28/2016 3:38:10 PMConsidering light is a lot more fluid in TTK than it was before, its really not as important any more. Why are you so concerned with people's light anyway? King's Fall, Iron Banner, Trials. That's the only place where it really matters, and even then those things are so specific, its not like you'll just randomly invite people for it (Unless you're an idiot) So you're checking people's stats for those things anyway. Looking at your characters, you might wanna focus on your light, rather than others'.

Edited by DidacticRhetoric: 7/28/2016 7:07:11 PMNot really sure why they made this error. It seems like an obvious oversight. Realistically, it's probably impossible to be anything over ~240-50 light unless you're over level 40 anyway, which means there are few high level activities you can participate in anyway so showing the XP level is redundant.
