Quests that involve both PVE and PVP requirements

Good morning Guardians, I'm sure I'm not the only one to bring up something like this, but it's something that I would like to see done in the future for Y3 "hopefully". Currently, some quests involve both PVE and PVP interaction; the Exotic Sword Quest chain. Personally, I don't play PVP, I strictly like the PVE portion of Destiny. As a result, I'm faced with 2 decisions: 1) Settle and never get the Exotic Sword Or 2) Attempt to achieve the 25 Guardian kills, most likely stress and ultimately make playing an unenjoyable experience. (Note: This isn't a rant because I'm a poor PVP player, I just enjoy the PVE perspective more). I'm not saying change the current Quest, since I knew going into it there would be PVP elements as it originated with Shaxx, but for quests in the future that contain these types of requirements. My solution? How about being able to do one or the other? Where I have to kill, say 100 Majors OR 25 Guardians in the Crucible? This would satisfy players that just want to play PVE, or ones that just want to play PVP. I'm OK with Bungie making Quests like this a bit more grindy on the PVE side as it just takes times compared to Crucible where skill matters. Bungie, iterated quite a few times in the past that you should be able to play Destiny the way you want and not be hindered, however I can't if I'm absolutely required to do PVP in order to obtain certain weapons/gear. So there you have it, something I'd like to see in Y3, feel free to respond with any criticism good or bad but hopefully constructive!

 • I have "complained" and commented about this several times, and the support from the community was not overly supportive. Apparently, if you're not good at PvP, or - heaven forbid - don't like it, then you're welcome to play another game. In fact, it's almost required that you play another game, and get the hell out of the way of the people who want to kill people in PvP. As an aside, the actual function of killing other Guardians is a bit silly in itself. The real enemy in PvE - the guts of the game - aren't humans. It's a bit like training to kill Alligators, by training to kill Bears. This situation is entirely Bungie's decision. It's not by default. Any response from them, little as it has been, is to bring out the old standby, "Just make up a team from your list of hundreds of friends." Yeah, right! In the past, when this sort of quest came up, the prime way to do it was with friends, but not as a fire team, but merely as a "You kill me then I kill you" effort. I remember six of us doing it, and it was with different kill means. One had to grenade, one had to melee, one had to use a special weapon. We all stood around and did it for a few minutes, until it was all done. What's the point? I''m inclined to think Bungie is too dim witted to realise this happens. They think everyone is merrily going around the Crucible "having fun" for hours on some damn fool grind. As I said, "What's the point?" I played IB this week. Don't bother to look me up! K/D averages about .4 or so. Score is mostly last or second last. Managed third one time when the enemy were all AFK. Often the reward was nothing, or some crap. I got a 334 Ghost, which was appreciated, but it was one out of many many other pieces of rubbish, and was the only thing I kept. Eventually I got jack of it! Being blasted from someone who wasn't there a micro second ago, time and time again, sure isn't fun! Destiny has one great thing about it. The technical operation of the game. Forget PvP, the lag doesn't allow this to work, but in PvE, is there a better graphics, a better aiming system, a better hit detection a smoother moving character in another game? I don't think so. I see that RoI will have mixed quests again. All I see is a re-skinned game. I do NOT see any change in the policy of the game, or the intent of the game, or the PvP PvE mix. For this reason, I will not be buying it. I'm sure Bungie will not be too concerned.
