The real question is: why were Microsoft messing around with the items in the destiny store?

Maybe they're adding preorder for rise of iron in the store and accidentally did this?

They weren't messing with that specifically, the same thing happened for fallout 4 in part because they are merging the xbox one store with the PC store.

Maybe! Or a disgruntled employee with a desire to get back at Bungie or Microsoft. Either way it has happened and they need to figure out how to make things right again.
