As much time as matchmaking takes, we waste a significant portion of our reputation booster. Please, pause them while in match making to increase their effectiveness

Battlefield 4 did it right, it only counted time on your XP boost during gameplay. You could leave it for a month and your boost would still be active the next time you joined a match if it had time left.

Bump. I never have problems with strike matchmaking, at most 5 minutes in orbit but usually only 1 or 2, but Crucible matchmaking is a whole other story. 10 minutes in orbit followed by a crushing 5 minute pub stomp.

It is a decent idea. It may actually be easier coding-wise to just pause the timer when not in a combat environment, then to implement some kind of counter system on a consumable. If it were my decision, I would look to pause the timer. Skip the counter.

This is kinda how Warframe China does it. (Yes, WF has a chinese only version, since their video game ban was lifted) They have it so your credit/resource/whatever booster lasts around 5-30 games depending on which one you buy. Normal Warframe should do that, Destiny should, hell, battlefield did this before most did!
