What's funny is after reading the post, I changed my answer from don't care to don't change it. It's RNG, man. How you play has literally no effect on your rewards. With that in mind, you shouldn't ever expect any. Now I know that you're saying that should change, but if they do scale rewards to match performance, there's a LOT of crap players that will get nothing but deaths. They do this in order to maintain the ability to get any drop regardless of skill or ability. I'm typically top 3 on my team and lots of times I get squat. It's not great but I just play again and typically get something. Of all the things that need changing, I'm putting this rather low on the list.

  • RNG isn't necessarily BAD, it's just that effort or time or statistics aren't taken into account. RNG needs to be coupled with a tiered system, and here's why. as a PVE player, I stay away from Crucible as much as possible, because every time I play I rage. there are some quests that need completion through Crucible events, and these I dread. not just for the rewards. when I DO get into a Crucible game, as I like to sometimes, it is frustrating to want to play with a team that has no communication skills. I am out there solo, trying to stay alive, which for me is hard to do. at least in Destiny. I consistently come in 4th, 5th, and 6th. when I come in the top 3 tiers, that is with some effort and no small expenditure of energy. to get rewards that are foolish or none at all is the cherry on the pie!! then I will rage quit. this is a stupid formula. end rant

  • But you would be rigging it against yourself. If you're consistently a bottom player, in your system, you'd get less, no? Players with lower skill levels that don't finish too high are the reason the loot system is the way it is. It gives those guys a fair chance at the drops. Now if you think the pool should be shrunk and improve chances of drops as you finish higher...Not a bad idea, I guess. Hard to implement.

RNG coupled with tiered rewards would guaranty that everyone got a reward, though. that is what I was suggesting. the two should go hand in hand, so that no one is left out of the reward pool. ever! RNG, imo, is not a good way to implement any aspect of any enterprise. NOTHING IS RANDOM!!

  • Everyone doesn't deserve rewards though. At least that's my opinion. Giving everyone a reward after every game would vastly water down the loot and currency currently in game. I just don't think you should get a reward every time, so I suppose we just disagree on that.

  • well, you can look at it from this perspective, too! as in war, you are given rewards for things to commemorate your contribution to the overall effort. if you are wounded, reward. if you master a weapon/X amount of confirmed kills - reward. being a spotter or calling in valuable intel... you got it! reward... now, if you are AFK most of the match, and this is the only way I can see the logic in NOT rewarding someone, then you have generated nothing for the team or yourself. hence, POOP!!

  • and that is one of the Crucible modes, right?! may be that Bungie could take a look at the reward table for the entire way that each mode of the Crucible is played, and reward players accordingly. would make sense. more sense than just not rewarding someone.

  • Maybe increase drop rates for some stuff, but again I still don't think everyone should get a reward every time.

  • I can agree with you on that, that not everyone should get a reward... if you consistently come in 5th or 6th. I have, as explained earlier, come in the top three positions several times and not been rewarded at all. this dialogue is following that premise, that people that put the effort to get the top score or are out there playing to have a good time and win, they should always get rewarded. that is not to discount that anyone else who is playing should not get ANY kind of a reward. just on a lower tier. but everyone should get a reward for playing. you are spending some amount of time and energy that you have already invested financially into a franchise... there should be some kind of payout on the receiving end. that is where I don't agree with you.

  • And that payout is rep towards a new package. That's the equalizer. You don't even have to win to get the "reward." That's your participation trophy. Everything else is just gravy.

  • You're really going to hate the exotic sword quests, then. The need for 25 sword kills in PvP is just the start of an overly-time-consuming quest.

  • I have two of the swords, just need the fire. can't find anyone that wants to run that quest, for some reason!! it IS tedious

  • I've just gotten to the last step a week or so ago. I still need all 3, and to me, it looks like the logical step is to get the fire one first. The only problem is, I'm poor, so I'm playing on PS3. The console nearly everyone hates.

I'm not saying to "scale rewards to match performance," I'm just saying to remove the possibility that "nothing" is an option for a reward, for ANYBODY. It's an asshole move on Bungie's part. If they were really doing this to "maintain the ability to get any drop regardless of skill or ability," they'd remove the option of "nothing."

  • So you think everyone deserves a drop for every activity they do...?

  • If we're talking PvP, everyone should come back with something that shows it wasn't a complete waste of time, even if that item is a crappy blue engram you can find on patrol easily. Getting absolutely nothing is an asshole move on Bungie's part, it's like getting a groin punch from a 'roided-up Scrooge.

  • Something like rep to progress your rank? lol. I guess I just disagree with you then. No need to water down the loot system or currency by giving everyone motes, coins, or even actual drops after every single game. That's a bit much, and personally, I'd rather get nothing than a crappy gun/armor piece or a mote.

  • I guess that makes us different, then, and I will respect your opinion. More than I can ask for out of half of these people, anyways.
