I'm interested to know what people believe indicates high skill in PvP. Many people would say that high ranks in rumble, skirmish, trials, or salvage could be an indicator. Others would say that fantastic gunskill with a variety of weapons is an indicator. Some would even say that the best indicator is how the player moves and behaves when engaging the enemy. Maybe you see a combination of various aspects of the players play style, setup, and ranking as an accurate indicator? Or maybe you have crafted your own way of determining someones PvP prowess that you would like to share?
Of course, I have my own opinion on this subject, but I am curious to know what the PvP guardians of the forums think. Or do you believe that this game just takes no skill, regardless of what weapons you are using?
Thanks for reading, have a song <3.

1 ReplyEdited by oneqkhick: 7/14/2016 12:00:28 AMCaring or trying, there are alot of " High Skilled" players out there because the majority really dosnt care.....the percentage of players that actually try to be top notch probably isn't over 8%......might have to make a post and take a poll. I don't mean the rest don't try, they just don't put alot of effort in it....that's me, I don't have PVP armor, don't care what weapon I use, care less if I die preventing the other team get heavy and I'm at 1.1 or so, have had 7.0 games, have phantoms....just really don't care, it's just a game to me.

1 ReplyHigh skill is PvP is indicated by one's ability to be beaten and not whine about it. High skill in PvP is indicated by ones ability to avoid statements like "shotguns take no skill".

7 RepliesEdited by Killlerschaf: 7/13/2016 6:29:59 PMPoints per minute. KD spreads (meaning how many net points you brought to your team. This is different from KD because it measures the skill difference between players at the same KD. Player a has 30 kills and 10 deaths. Player B has 12 kills and 4 deaths. A is worth 2k net points, while B is worth 800 net points). SoloQ rankings (is a player without comms and a team as good as a player with a team and comms? In that case he has a much higher skill). Nonetheless these do not account for disruption skills. This is more obvious when you think about games with actual tanks (like Overwatch). A tank would go in, disrupt the enemy and die in the process. But through his death, his team was able to get 4 enemies. They trade 1 for 4, thanks to his sacrifice. I have no idea how to measure that, because Ka/D cannot measure this effectively. Our tank could have just hit 1 enemy, but because of his tankiness, the enemies had to use 4 players to take him down. Meanwhile the rest of the tank's team collapses from a flank, and takes out the people distracted by tank. In Destiny this works effectively through movement abilities, grenades, flame Shields(juggernauts), or simply being a Leeroy Jenkins through distracting the enemy. As far as I know, there is no metric that allows us to gauge the power level of a good Leeroy Jenkins. And yet, I will always prefer someone who knows how to sacrifice himself for the heavy, a point, or me to get a triple kill, over the camping sniper noob in the back with his 3 kills and 0 deaths.

Nothing! With redbar warriors all over the place and you can easily manipulate sbmm by teaming up some friends with super low stat to boost your Kd!

A nice juicy red bar usually let's you know that you're facing some of Destiny's best.

Skill is a broad spectrum in and off itself. You'll see some say that kd is the best indicator while some say elo or a combination of the two. I personally will take that average kd player who has excellent communication and works well with others over the kd monger who tries to 1v3 everything and never communicates. They usually all by themselves win or lose a match. Which is a terrible way to play. They usually offer terrible advice after it's too late to do anything. I want that over 1.0 kd who has a good attitude and communicates well over the self absorbed 2.0 who rages and sucks at callouts.

they are not a skilled guardian if they are not good at all 3 aspects you mentioned, done.
-
Membership in BSK, 13 Devils, Invigorate, iAM or some other top tier clan is the best indication.

1 ReplyPlayers that can get a lot of kills whilst airborne have always impressed me. It's something my mediocre ass has trouble doing..
