25 Years of Bungie

Fellow Guardians, I just wanted to say a few words about my experience in the Bungie community over the years, and I hope you'll all join me in thanking this incredible developer for all the moments of action, drama and joy they have worked so tirelessly to provide for so long now. Whilst I understand that various people here may argue that the Destiny community isn't all that great, I personally would beg to differ. In my opinion, the Destiny community, the Bungie community, is perhaps the strongest and most unified group of devoted fans I've seen of any game developer. And rightly so. My first time playing a Bungie game was back in early 2011, when I picked up a copy of Halo: Reach - a game that blew me away, and pulled me into the deep and immersive Haloverse. Every player I met would be friendly, welcoming and accommodating of me, and I never knew that such an incredible group of fellow gamers existed. Fast forward to 2014. Bungie has long announced their upcoming FPS/MMO/RPG hybrid "Destiny" and released a great deal of gameplay footage of what was considered "the most ambitious video game yet". I'm sure many of the Year One players here can recall the excitement flowing through the forums as Destiny's launch drew nearer and nearer, and the thrill of playing through the Beta and getting a glimpse of what lay ahead. Now I know that there were issues with the story and aspects of gameplay in the beginning. I know that this game's lifetime has been a rollercoaster of weapon tuning and class balancing. And I know that Master Rahool should probably just go -blam!- himself. But look around! Things are changing all the time, perhaps not entirely to players' liking, but inevitably for the best. I'm sure those of you who are still reading this are getting tired of me droning on, so I'll leave you with this. You don't need to look any further than these very forums to see what we have here. We have a loyal, creative, welcoming, diverse, vibrant and above all supportive collection of people from across the world, all of whom contribute to this amazing community. In fact, I'd guess that we're almost seen as a plague by other developers, as our influence has managed to extend to every corner of the Internet! So never forget - Bungie's ultimate goal is to achieve world domination, and we are their instrument. Once again, thank you to all of you for making this such an incredible place. Thank you Bungie.

  • Your right. This community is strong and hopefully getting stronger everyday. It's time for something else to stand out from the rest besides Call of Duty! We need new and innovative games that will attract our attention. I've loved Destiny for two years now and feel like it is a place to have fun with friends and family. Hell, its like the whole community is family besides the once and a blue moon strays that we encounter along the way. Like everything else, nothing is perfect and has room to grow and to improve itself. Thank you Skydrone117 for a nice post and thank you Bungie for listening to us. It is always a good idea to have a third party view on things from the outside. - Tox

Ehhh.... Yeah the myth games ware cool. The halo games are a pathetic console shooters. Third class for real gamers from the past. Destiny dont improve with the changes... one step forward two steps back. The loot system and the grinding is bad. The weapons feel like shit. The range stat destroyed the feeling. The recoil stat destroyes the feeling and people buy hardware mods for antirecoil .... and cheat. The pvp without servers and the gamemodes are bad. Third class. No real objectiv based maps. Lag, lag and lag. A pvp shooter without mouse and keyboard ...common. its a generation call of duty game. The coop playermodus is just bad. After 2 years you still have to go to orbit and reload the map to join a fireteam. They -blam!-ed it up
