I'm going to go with that's what happened. In order to expand humanity they would have had to something like that. Assuming all this, I think the AI in control got corrupted and saw humanity as a threat, therefor it tried to kill us. The Iron Lords weren't special to it the AI saw them as a threat and tried to kill them. SIVA may at its core be a corrupt AI that used its technology to transform itself into a god like being advancing its self more and more. Until it hit "enlightenment." we may have to take down the physical structure that it built its self after killing its most powerful fallen devil splicers. Hope you found it at least interesting.
